Humpty Dumpty pants

Harem pants do have a slightly dropped crotch. They're very voluminous and only get tight around the ankle. They aren't tapered, instead the volume is gathered in at the hem which kind of make them look really baggy and kind of rounded. Think Aladdin/Arabian Knights.

These are along the lines of harem pants.

Then there's sarouel pants, which have a crotch that's dropped below the knee and is more fluid, almost like a skirt that's connected at the bottom, and zouave pants which also have a dropped crotch and are more voluminous around the thigh, then get tighter under the knee.

oh god if i wore these pants i would look like a person wearing pants with a saggy nappy

thanks for the clarification, spike! i have a pair that are high waisted, very big around the bottom and thighs and then almost become like leggings from the knee down. someone called these jodhpurs, but aren't those usually fitted from waist to ankle?

i SO wish i could find a pair of reasonably priced silk harem pants.

a grey or navy would be my dream...

^ It depends. Modern jodhpurs are basically leggings. Old school jodhpurs have a bit of room around the thigh and then become fitted at the knee, like this.

But if the pants have more drape around the top then they're probably zouave pants.

Hi All! I think they are really cute.

Especially the first 3 with the tapered ankle. I am looking to get my wife some. She is kind of tall and kind of skinny.

Although I like skin tight streach jeans I get tired of them.

Washington, DC surburbia is soooooooooooo boring. I get flip-flop overload. Not even leather thong flat sandals but the rubber beach ones. EVERYWHEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EWWWW!!!!:ninja:

I think they are beautiful.

But I feel this is one of those trends that looks great on the runway and ridiculous in real life...

THEN:

NOW:

I've actually eased up on certain ones. Maybe the funny thing is that I was drawn to a homme wearing these harem pants with some feminine shoes in the "Heels for Men" thread. I'm still not sold on these pants, but I've eased up a great deal. I've liked the harem pants with the lowered crotch design (is it okay to say this on tFS?). Some harem pants have that kind of illusion of a skirt. Illusion in fashion means stylish most of the time. Maybe one of the best harem pants I've seen were these kind of ruffle-design harem pants I've seen on... I want to say Shopbop, but I'm not sure.

I live in scotland usually but am currently living in london for a month and Ive seen loads of girls rock these pants. I would never think of wearing them in glasgow but in london anything goes and I feel more comfortable with slightly off the wall things.... so I bought a pair, I like them with my sandals, just havent found the right top yet

I tried on a jersey pair of these the other day, and felt utterly ridiculous!

They were lovely though, all soft and sort of.... swooshy. Just need to get the confidence to wear them in a town that a gladiator sandal counts as daring and 'on the ball'!

i got sick of wearing my harem pants/jodhpurs the same way all of the time (was wearing them with silk vintage blouses for the most part) so i started layering a long black racerback tank with an am ap see-thru tank in taupe over it, the pants and dark grey haider ackermann heels or platform geogina goodman pumps. this really dresses them up without much effort.

If you can pull them off, more credit to ya. I have yet to see one person in my town to wear them. They are not very big over here.

oddly i was fond of this trend from the beginning, mostly because for me, baggy pants always seemed more flattering somehow. i just inherited a big sackful from my mom. they fit less like the photos, but they still look fine, if not a little small (as if that matters in this case, haha)
