Hussein Chalayan F/W 06.07 Paris

Fascinating cut out suits.
Great Dune styling especially towards the end.
Poor choice of colours, imo. Of course, he may be two years ahead when we all gravitate towards umber shades again.
Does he seem to take off where Nicolas stopped? Just my opinion.

great cut in all black looks but the combination fabric pieces and those brown rainbow dresses are off..

suprisingly good from chalayan and very client orientated, thanks for the pics

I like this a lot, including the colors ... he's continued/expanded the intricate necklines, which I like a lot, and I really like the variations on slashed sleeves. Very wearable ... a defined shoulder and wrist, and lots of elbow room :p They look quite comfortable & practical as well as beautiful. This is nice ... and I'm sure even more interesting and beautiful in person. Lots of interesting cutting & detailing, but nothing screams ...

I like some of the brown/gold, particularly MariaCarla's skirt.

I also like Natasha's black outfit with the boots-I must have that coat!

I must say a good number of these looks and pieces are incredibly nice. I love the detailing on the straps and dresses.

Loving the padded coats and jackets.

To tell you the truth,I'm rather happy that he's making clothes rather than just concept pieces. It was wonderful and it made people think but sometimes one has to move on. Doesn't mean you have to lose your spirit just give some balance. And this is definitely a nice evolution. I haven't liked his previous attempts at making things a bit less overly conceptual...but it must take time to make such a shift into world you're not completely used to.

That's an excellent point Scott! And "a bit less overly"... I like that. :p

I'm no expert, but my first reaction was that this is the best Chalayan I've seen. It's not only innovative but beautiful. I think the shades of bronze are quite fresh, I like them. Adore the sculptured jackets and collars!

very nice......
less conceptual and definitely more wearable... like someone said before... very client oriented. i like pretty much all of it.. but im a bit skeptical about some of those brown/gold dresses.I dont think its anything to rave about design wise... i mean that with respect to chalayan...its far from his genius but i see this as a profitable collection.. everything is totally wearable and yet edgy which is great.

this is chalayan at his best........ I need the story ehind the clothes as i know in his world everything has a reason and an "order of origin"
BTW. with all great respect to nicolas he is not ijn chalayans league
i hate to make a comparison but while nicolas makes great clothes chalayans work trancends fashion
as long as i live i will never forget his FW 2001 collection where he emptied the living room
in my estimation .... that was/is possiblythe greatest fashion moment in the 21st century (even though you could make a case for McQueens nuthouse/ asylum collection

gimickless is brave, he's been proving his true self with this collection.
basically the more i see this the more i approve

So much better than the summer collection with those silly tubes. It's modern and wearable yet being true to Hussein's creative spirit. Actually I like it all excluding the brown/burgundy silks and velvets
