I love it too! It's actually a poem called "Coney Island of the Mind" by Ferlinghetti.

Right now, I'm SOOO inspired by YSL SS 03. Everything about it just makes me weak in the knees. I go around town with "Angie" playing in my iPod, I doodle the clothes in my sketchbook, I paint my nipples purple..............................
totally kidding about that last part!

May I ask what is wrong with purple nipples? Tsk tsk, just another clueless person that doesn't understand the brilliance of YSL.:p

Good choice, that collection seems so current; transparency, statement necklace, nude shoes, cut-outs.

  I agree though.. fabulous season! So architectural and beautiful.

hepburn, I'd never seen the Rolling Stone cover with a 70s-esque Diane Keaton! the Annie Hall quote suits that cover so well too

Scott Schulman's pictures are so consistently striking, that it's difficult for one to stand out in particular to me, but this one did:

And adding to its beauty is this comment that was posted anonymously, typo and all:

Black. Dull white. Gray. A street exhibiting no joy. A fitting photographic metaphor for winter in Milan, as well as the state of the world in 2009. Yer these two young women--with the exuberant height of their heels and the flirty fit of their coats--speak to the resilience of the human spirit.
A shot that goes far beyond fashion, at least to this viewer.

^^I love everything Vermeer.

Too bad Galliano's collection for Dior Couture SS 09, inspired by Vermeer, was so tacky and unrefined...because Vermeer is not in the slightest either one of those adjectives.

I've said this about three times on this forum now but:
He stole my inspiration!
Last week I decided: Vermeer/seventeenth century Dutch costume/Delft for the inspiration of my project
So you can imagine how I felt when Dior couture arrived on Monday with the same . .
I'm just thankful he did a crappy job which was more based on the crunchy scrollwork around the hemline than the subtleties of Vermeer

yes, the rich always manage to find the rainbow somehow

^I understand what you're getting at, but to me, both the picture and the anonymous comment were all-encompassing and celebratory.

I'm not denying that there aren't significant economic dimensions to being able to participate in and enjoy fashion, but it's very cynical to attach a political agenda to every image and every word.

my comment was no more political than the original. I simply get a different sense from the image, which is a good photograph.

you mean their clothes were luxury items?
you could make those too if you wanted...

Are you sure that's Jackie?? Or do you mean "Jackie O"? (Picture on L is from wiki for comparison ... those are not her lips, I think ... or hair, or face shape ...)
