iPod Video

OMG i'm totally gonna get that...
I'm kinda confused though, this or nano?
I suppose this one...more storage!
Whatever....

If you want one for 'more storage' then get a 4G iPod for less than the price of these new ipod + video.

And the one thing 'fragile' about the nano is their delicate screen. Other than that, they are built better than any ipod prior.

there kind of is a ipod phone

its a motorola with itunes on it :flower:

But the phone doesn't look like an iPod. I want a phone designed by Apple so it looks as cool as the iPods do.

The problem with all of the apple stuff (iPod, etc.) is you know that in a month they are going to come out with something even cooler than what you just shelled out 300 bucks for. I bought a second or third generation iPod. I still use it every day, but that doesn't stop me from lusting after one of those cool black ones (mine is all scratched up and dingy).

and i heard on the radio that if your nano screen breaks you can go back to the store and get it replaced because apple released a statement that the nano screen was overly fragile and they made a mistake when they first made it

My birthday is this week. I think I might ask someone to get me a new iPod. Am I crazy?

I can't wait until they are in stores. Supposedly this week Apple stores will get them and I am dying to get my hands on one.

The iPods do change so frequently but with each update there is something new. I've loved them since the start so video is just the icing on the cake.

how does wanting one of these super cool devices make you nuts? i think you'd be crazy to NOT consider asking someone to get you one!!

btw, happy birthday! :flower:

Every 2 Q there seems to be some kind of new announcement. Not suprised really. It's great to get updates. I'm still stickin' with me mini and I'm fine with it.

^same!! i love my mini & its pink :P

Mine too! but it's the "first-generation" pink and it looks kinda mauveish... lavender?

Anyway, I was considering giving it to my sister (she's 14 and can't exactly afford to buy one, while I work and can ^_^) and getting the new Ipod with video functions.

My question is, are we going to be able to watch videos that aren't videoclips or that aren't bought from the itunes store :innocent:

Because really, there are a bunch of channels I don't get here so I have to download my TV shows on the internet if I want to watch them  I wonder if I'd be able to watch them on the ipod? Does anybody know?

wouldn't it be cool if they let us play movies just like they do on the PSPs?

What is it like on the PSPs? I've never even seen one before :P I know what they are, I just never had the chance to see them in person!!

PSP's have mini discs you can buy in places like best buy or blockbuster that are right alongside the regular movies

I have a pink mini too ;D

Yes, you could convert your own movies using quicktime 7 and play them back on your iPod.

And for the PSP, you don't have to buy the UMD discs. You can simply convert your own movies as well and add them to the memory stick and play it off of there.

Hmmm, that sounds great. Now I REALLY want a new ipod  oh, wait, a PSP sounds interesting too!!!:innocent:

The films have to be coded as H.264 or MPEG-4 with sound in .mv4, .mp4 and .mov format. I guess it won't be that easy to just grab a divx file and play...

Specs from Apple's pages:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

^ Not too difficult though. Open up Quicktime 7, and just auto-convert the video into the flavor of your liking

^ That's true, and I sometimes change movies for one reason or other. Still, you need QT Pro, and it's another hoop to jump through... :innocent:

Thanks!

I might be crazy because my old iPod works just fine (except for the fact that it is completely full). I like gagets. I can't help it. I want to be able to watch a movie on my iPod.

My friend told me that it may only have a couple of hours of battery life if you're watching a movie on it. That would be disappointing.
