iPod Video

^ i still don't think you're nuts marcy!... it'd be great to watch movies and tv shows on the ipod.. but it wouldn't surprise me if the battery life does turn out to be shorter than the "plain" ipod - par for the course when you're watching videos or playing games with your gadgets.. boy does this look cool!!

Correct. Video playing has been clocked in at about 2-3 hours of view time before the battery dies out. This is do to the internal 'on the go' decoding of the videos which requires lot's of battery power, as opposed to just music playing, in which you'll get 10+ (I forgot the exact number) hours of music time.

You're feeding my impulse! I only have a couple of days left until my birthday. I am going on a trip to Portland to visit a friend the first weekend in November. I live in Detroit so it's a decent amount of flying. I keep visualizing myself on the plane watching a movie on my iPod. I have a laptop that I could do the same thing on (a powerbook), but I like the idea of it being really small. I need to get in touch with my techie friends and get their advice. I know I'm totally overthinking this.

I don't think you are :P Please let us know if you have any more information about it as I'm considering getting one myself but if it *is* only 2-3 hours of battery life for watching videos, then maybe I won't bother

Well, ask yourself why you are buying an iPod +Video in the first place. Is it for music or video. Or do you like the idea of having a portable video player. If that's the case, you have quite a bit of option out there.

I'd recommend the Creative Zen Vision if you're into the "portable video" area. It has a longer battery life, bigger screen, can play audio + video.

The iPod is 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.43 (in inches) and the Zen is 4.8 x 2 x 0.79 (in inches) B)

So if we got stored catwalk videos we can play them on a video Ipod?

You just have to change teh format? Can it be done ... cuz if so .. I'm so getting one

^ Correct. With just a little conversion, you can store and playback catwalk videos on the iPod.

Well, I also want a new iPod because my old one is 15Gigs and it's totally full already. I keep getting more music and I'm running out of room on it. I'd also like it to be able to store pictures and video too. My friend digitally recorded all of the episodes of Sex and the City and he offered to convert them to .AVI files if I get a new iPod so I can watch them on it. It's so tempting!

^only that the new iPods don't play .avi  wow. 15 gigs. Go for the 40 or 60 then. :D

They don't play .AVI? I must have my wires crossed then. I definitely need at least 40 gigs. I hate having to pick and choose which music I can put on my iPod now when I link it with iTunes. I want a black one.

I'm saving all the vids on Style.com right now!

Whatever, I want a Nano. Although, I do have to admit the price for the gigs and features in this iPod is a pretty good deal.

Hm...I think it`s not worth it, because you`ll be watching videos for two weeks and then you will stop...well i think so(it happend the same with cell phones with digital cameras) So i would like to have nano!

Has anyone here gotten a ipod video? I'd really like to know how long the battery lasts when you're only watching videos. Do you think it's more than 2 hours?

Wow where have I been? They have a video ipod or are you guys just speculating? Why on Earth does anyone need videos on the go?

For the old videos like fall 2003 you have to play them in real player i think....:flower:

Did anyone get this ipod yet? If so, how are you liking it? I really want to give this to someone as a Christmas gift but I want to make sure it's a good gift .
