I don't get the appeal of a John Galliano collection. Sure its like a show, its like a performance piece etc etc Its way too colorful, way too embellished, way too costumey and a lot of it is not wearable.

Question: has anyone actually worn a Galliano piece and not ended up looking like a circus performer?

^ The thing is, when you break these pieces apart and see them separately on a hanger in a store, they look much, much more wearable.

The styling plays a huge part in Galliano's shows, but I can vouch for the clothes themselves, they're totally believable for real life.

Hmm, tbh I didn't like this collection at first, but it's definitely growing on me!! I think it was the set that threw me off... I usually LOVE Galliano's runway, but somehow I feel like this time it did not work with the collection. The jewelery is gorgeous!

I just read the poem that was the inspiration for this collection today in English class! "Kubla Khan" by Samuel Coleridge...I was surprised to see it in the textbook! Just one of those weird Dior/ Galliano moments that you have occasionally...old runway soundtrack songs you hear on the radio, etc.

Anyway, I'd never read it before...it is now my new favorite poem! (Not that I had a favorite before...I usually hate poetry!)

Here's the poem for anyone interested (please note, Coleridge was high on opium when he wrote this!)-

the best line..."a damsel with a dulcimer"...how awesome is that!!!!:mowhawk::mowhawk::mowhawk:

i totally agree on the random dior moments... specially the soundtrack songs on the radio... flashes of the dresses just come to mind! (somebody told me.... by the killers is an absolute match to mariacarla wearing one of those corvid dresses HC FW06)

The accessories are tight!!! I LOVE those tassels shoes, and I especially love the tassel on the heel! How sick is that!

The hair and makeup are really distracting, and I don't really care for the setting, but the clothing itself is actually beautiful. There are a lot of wearable pieces and most of the dresses are gorgeous. I hate the clashing colors, but whatever. It's still much better than the Dior collection.

the picture of details that seanutbutter posted are really great, thankyou! :flower: There was a head piece that made the model look as if she had crackly green hair but no, evreything else I like! It's all fun! Sometimes I reckon fashion has to make people initially reel back suddenly from the sudden impact of crazy colours and designs and give them time to put on their sunglasses before studying each peice in detail , and then they will slowly but surely appreciate them.

Re-looked at the collection, and I like it more and more. Several of the dresses are really gorgeous and very old-style Galliano.
