Hmm... somehow I don't see this as a celebration of life and diversity. It's a little sick and offensive, in my opinion. But I won't say more until I see the entire thing.

actually, i don't see it as a straight celebration of diversity either... but not a mockery, either. i think it answers the pleas for more 'realness' in fashion in a very fit-for-galliano way, and wouldn't expect less from him.

in that, when have 'real' models ever reflected upon averageness in society... they're exaggerations, even aberrations, just as much as the other 'models' in this show are exaggerations. somehow, the shoe fits.

and i'm loving him for this... why screw the theatrics when you can make the clothes to back it up?

I actually don't see this as portrayal of reality or nor is it trying to make people see fashion as something available to a diversity. This looks like a vision of the fantastical, a topsy turvy world if you will. There's definitely influences of the old Catholic feast days where people would dress up as 'freaks' and subverse for that one day where sin and rebellion was acceptable. As a show, I love that concept and kudos to him for bringing in the theatrics. I can only admire the clothes in a purely aesthetic way and they don't really do it for me. I see a plethora of influences here but nothing seems to really work.

makes me wonder whats going on in his head..... if he tries to go for a shock factor, then this is bloody awful, because i don't see the fun in using diversity to make himself distinctive.... people who are different still are people, and using them like what circus did back in the day was just terrible......where's human dignity in there?!

but if he wants to showcase REAL people.... then i give him two big thumbs up.....
