Where is that room? At Chanel or his own residence in Paris?

^it's at rue de lille. his own residence/studio, he has a bookstore just next too this big room.

^ Is that his 'spaceship' apartment that was in Vogue?

^To the best of my knowledge, he's had the library/studio for a lot longer than his Quai Voltaire flat, and I'm pretty sure that's only one story, while the library's a minimum of 30 feet tall.

By the way, I have an idea... so Karl and Diane Kruger are neighbors, but you know what would be awesome? If here at tFS we started a fund to buy a pad in their building. Somebody here has to be a millionaire, right? We could make it a (Double C) Commune for all of us Karl stalkers. Deal?

Now that I think of it... I do remember Karl talking a couple years ago how he had an apartment that was 100% historically accurate 18th century on one floor and completely contemporary on the floor below it. Was he referring to the Quai Voltaire apartment?

^^no, that was the Rue de l'Université "Hotel Particulier". What we see his house in paris both in Signé Chanel and Lagerfeld Confidentiel is all filmed there.
He didn't own the place, so he moved to Quai Voltaire (the spaceship).
btw, the rue de l'Université mansion is also the place where the Olsens showed their last The Row collection. It also held some magazine party this week I think.

When Karl was there, it was all modern art one floor, and as you said 18th century in the other.
It wasn't like that all the time though... as we know, Karl loves to decorate, redecorate, and reredecorate.

You are right about the 7L bookstore and his studio+privatelibrary: they are both on Rue de Lille. that's where he is interviewed in Karl Un Roi Seul, where he takes pictures for all the press kits, where he dazzles people with the massive amount of books he has (apparently he has more than those we see there, but he has other libraries. did i read somewhere that he has one in the outskirts of Paris?)

About Quai Voltaire (the spaceship), what Diane Kruger said is that he is trying to buy ALL the apartments in the building... so I wouldnt want to enter a highest-bidder game with Karl! Sorry ilaughead, we'll have to settle with Le Ritz :(

^ I think the perfect way to deal with these apartments would be if I move into Diane's apartment with her and let you know...at some point...maybe... B)

oh! you mean you want to move into OUR apartment, with US?
sure! i'll tell Diane, i am sure she'll let you take the guests room!

^ Ummm...let me think about this..I'll get back to you... Looks like my passport is out of date...rats...

And the rumor mill keeps doing what it does best...
Hint is also perpetuating the rumors that when Karl Lagerfeld retires from Chanel — reportedly with a splashy send-off when his 30th anniversary at the label comes in 2012 — Lanvin's Alber Elbaz will take his place. Olivier Theyskens, who recently took on a Theory line after being let go from Nina Ricci, is poised to replace Elbaz according to these rumors. These are all just rumors but they've been flying around for some time independently. Now they've all just been woven together like a neat little basket hair 'do. But if they're true, sounds like 2012 will be the year of the fashion apocalypse. AHHHHH! Etc.

Nice company in the second pic ^_^

Happy news!! :woot: (Typically limited due to WWDs policy of giving you nothing without a ridiculously expensive subscription..)

Chanel's Mobile Art Pavilion Gets Permanent Home in Paris
PARIS - Mobile Art - the otherworldly exhibition pavilion Chanel christened in March 2008 and sidelined nine months into its global tour - has found a permanent home in Paris, WWD reports...

^wow! really looking forward to see it. wonder where they'll find a suitable place to display it?

I read (not in the ridiculouslyexpensiveWWD...) that they are installing it in front of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris.
It's a very beautiful museum (and square) in Paris. The pavilion won't hold the chanel exhibition anymore, but contemporary art expositions. it's the arab institute that bought it from chanel, so they will curate the exhibitons.

good news is, the IdMA is free, so the Chanel Pavilion should also be open to all public!!

^ But if it is no longer a (huge) tribute to Chanel Handbags, why bother!!? :(

Well, they say everyone has a boss, but here is a picture I never expected to see!! Shocking!! (BTW- The 'unidentified woman' is Maureen Chiquet, CEO of Chanel S.A.) I have never seen any of them around Karl before- a very secretive crew...

France's Alain Wertheimer (R) and his brother Gerard (L) owners of fashion house Chanel , flanked by an unidentified woman attend Chanel's Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 ready-to-wear fashion collection in Paris March 2, 2007.
