Karl Lagerfeld, who was in town last month for Chanel’s SoHo shindig and Fashion’s Night Out, will be back in New York soon, this time for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund gala on Nov.15. Lagerfeld has been tapped as this year’s keynote speaker at the dinner, which honors emerging talent and crowns a winner and two runners-up. The event, now in its seventh year, will once again take place at Skylight Studios, and Lagerfeld will address a crowd that includes finalists Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra; Billy Reid; Christian Cota; Eddie Borgo; Gregory Parkinson; Moss Lipow; Pamela Love; Prabal Gurung; Robert Geller, and Oliver Helden and Paul Marlow for Loden Dager.

I think I will buy this song just to hear Karl do his usually rambling which sounds a bit like rap in the video:ninja::lol: Anyone know what he actually says?
I just found out the actual song has more "karl" than the video does... here's transcript and translation.

Démodé, pas démodé vous savez... hmm?
Démodé or nor démodé, you know... hmm?
(I refuse to translate démodé. If you don't know what it means, then you ARE démodé, you bore me!)
La mode et la musique, c'est identique
Fashion and musique, it's the same thing
On peut créer sa petite musique de chambre soi même.
We can all create our own chamber musique
(right... we can )
Et c'est pour ça que je trouve que mode et musique, pas parce que ça commence tous les deux par un eme, c'est de choses qui vont très, très bien ensemble.
And that's why I think that fashion and music, not because both words start with an em, they go very well together.
Parce que la musique aussi, elle exprime son époque
Music can just as well synthesize a period of time
Qu'est-ce que pensez de l'époque baroque si il y avait pas la musique baroque
What would you think of the baroque period if there wasn't baroque music?

Ça fait pas de Rondò Veneziano, un point c'est tout

So here I am kind of undecided about what he is saying.
Apparently, Rondò Veneziano is an italian music "band/orchestra" from the 80s that mixed rock with classical music.
The song is called RondoParisino, so perhaps it's a reference to that, but without being copycat...
who knows, perhaps that last sentence contains the cure to cancer and malaria and we will never be able to decipher it, hmmmm?

^ I must be thinking of one of the Chanel videos from the show that was interspersed with Karl commentary... B)

This is cute...Remember: When you go shopping, you must dress like Karl- do not be Demode!! B)

Many of Hollywood's most stylish stars will admit to having been inspired by iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, but few actually go so far as to dress like him.
On Thursday, reality television personality Kourtney Kardashian did just that for a shopping trip with partner Scott Disick in NYC's Meatpacking District. No, you'll never see Uncle Karl in black tights and a pleated leather skirt (Kourtney's is
Rebecca Minkoff)—but that blouse is a feminine variation on his favorite look.

^^ how can they say karl never wears skirts? hasnt everyone in this planet seen Lagerfeld Confidential yet?

^And that (in Confidential) was easily the most chic skirt wearage I've ever seen.

YES. Via WWD.com

HOMECOMING: After taking over every square inch of the vast Grand Palais in Paris for its spring ready-to-wear show earlier this month, Chanel is reverting to more intimate environs for pre-fall. On Dec. 7, the French house plans to show its latest métiers d’arts collection — a luxury rtw line made with the specialty ateliers Chanel owns — where it all started back in 2002: at its Rue Cambon couture salons.

^ :woot: B) Wonderful news!! Will Karl have everyone sitting on little gold chairs and a Coco look-alike hiding at the top of the stairs!!? :D Man, that's a pretty small space- there will be a lot of very upset people left out!!

^ Who is this guy with him!!? He is almost always around and I have never found out who he is!! :(

Worth pointing out that Eric Pfrunder was very instrumental in helping Karl with his photography venture in the mid 80's because he backed KL desire to do the Chanel press kits himself. If you notice he is always around when there is a photo shoot for either Chanel/Fendi/KL.

^ How interesting, thanks! I have been wondering who he is for years now! And welcome to the gang!! B)

Karl and Chanel US President John Galantic at the 57th St Chanel Headquarters in NYC on Fashion's Night Out - Sept 10, 2010...just one more party I was not invited to....

^ Yes! At the Vatican of Fashion: 31 Rue Cambon on Tuesday, Dec 7th...

Biarritz again? I'm confused because KL sold his house few years ago. It's the house you can see in Lagerfeld Confidentiel. The description in the article looks so much like this house that I don't know what to think.
I feel like reading an article from 2004!
