Kristen, who described herself as shy and boring, spent her youth focusing on her studies. While studying at Vancouver's Eric Hamber High School, she became involved in high school stage productions while attending drama class. In her senior year, Kristin's drama teacher encouraged her to join an open casting audition for the CBC series Edgemont and she got the role. By the time Kristin graduated high school, the big fan of Jodie Foster was on her way to an acting career.
