Although they are both tall and blonde, they are by no means goddess (although Mischa is definitely prettier than Blake), they are everyday, girl next door type girls and the American audience loves that.

Leighton definitely looks more put together and elegant than Blake does.
Maybe it's their stylists, I don't know.
I'm just not a huge fan of Blake's sense of style -- It's much too laid back for my taste.

Without her character's make-up and styling, Leighton is extremely plain and uncharismatic. It is shocking how different she looks in real life. She is also very boring at event s, both in term of attitude and outfits.
Blake, while she is more charming than beautiful, especially on-screen, is far more consistent, and always has the X-factor at public events.
Unless Leighton gets herself a good stylist and some professional make-up advice, I can't see her becoming a star... not even at the level of Bilson.

I definitely agree with you. She just glows on Gossip Girl but other times she's a bit more plain. She really needs to upp the ante!
