I loved the down coats that they wear off set. It just seems so warm! Does anybody know where they might have gotten these generic yet extremely warm looking coats? Thanks a ton :-)

If Leighton doesn't think they're doing a good job of representing her, then she would probably get a new one. And who cares about those rumors? The only ones she bothered addressing were the true ones (her album and her parents) and that's all that matters. It's not like she doesn't have a say in anything... her focus seems to be on Gossip Girl and her current album - it may not please you but that's what she wants to do. If you're a fan, you'll support her. I don't want her shoved down my throat for starring on a teen soap that's declining in ratings every week. Any press she's gotten for Gossip Girl have been for her breaking out and being talented; I think that's wiser than branding her the next IT girl.

^--loved that dress on her thanks for the id too bad i cant afford that.also in response, i think lively is seen much more as a teen icon considering the movies shes been in like the sisterhood of the traveling pants. i personally prefer meester in all categories, i think she is a much better actress and has more style than lively.

^^ I wonder if any of it is related to some (many?) young women relating more to Blake than Leighton? I mean, I can think of several attractive young women who look and dress something like Blake- I can think of pretty much none that are as beautiful or well dressed as Leighton...! Maybe Leighton's style is just unattainable for most young women...? :(

You mean Blair's style? I don't think the style that Blair on the show wears is really very close to what Leighton wears at all. Maybe Leighton doesn't want a lo of press and stuff?

I think she's amazing, I can't wait to see her in other roles!

^I think you meant Blair. It could be true that Blake/Serena may be more appealing to the general public because of her almost girl-next-door kind of persona, beautiful, blonde, sweet, and down to earth. But her style on GG is also a possibility - it's much easier to find jeans and top those off with leather boots and blazers. It's much difficult to go for the preppy yet classy ensembles that Blair owns. I personally would love to see more of B's rather than S's :)

I always wonder about the 'girl next door' image that is perpetuated. Most all American girl are neither blond nor blue eyed, both recessive genes that creates fake ideal beauty. Anyway, both girl are beautiful and I like them since they represent different genre for the pop culture we are inundated with.

^ Right- that is exactly what I was referring to...You could go to the Mall and pick up Serena's sort of clothes- Blair more 5th Avenue high end stores and lots of thought would have to go into the outfits...So maybe the Serena look is more accessible to most girls...

I agree, without getting too much into socio-political discussion about American culture. We accept this ideal beauty of blond hair, down to earth blah, when its about the racial stereotype that is perpetuated about what's beautiful and what's not.

Blair character is what most girls find intimidating or just too old, while Serena is the rebel that's more appealing and accessible in my OP.

Blair is a character that makes you think, Serena is one you want to be friends with.

I agree that Blake has a very sunny, girl-next-door look to her, and she does seem very down-to-earth, but I don't see how that doesn't apply to Leighton. Her beauty is very classic, very universal, but there's something about her that makes her edgier and mysterious without even trying. Plus I don't see how it all has to be about looks. Someone like Ellen Page is incredibly cute, but isn't known for her beauty and style yet was pushed into stardom because of her charisma, talent, and the right project. I hope Leighton will have a similar fate when she gets there.

while Serena is the rebel that's more appealing and accessible in my OP

I think on paper she is, but Blake's Serena is so vanilla.

I agree with those who say that Serena's look is just more accessible. You could easily throw together something vaguely similar after one visit to Urban Outfitters.

Blair is just more polished, more put-together. I admit, I am not an expert nor a regular viewer of Gossip Girls, but from what I've noticed, she seems to wear *outfits* -- like a dress with a coordinating coat, rather than pieces put together.

I don't agree that Serena's look is more accessible than Blair's. Serena may dress more "girl next door" but I know plenty of chic women who dress like Blair. A lot of women prefer Blair's look to Serena's.

In addition, the "down to earth" Serena look is a bit unrealistic. I hate the fact that one day she's wearing a school uniform with boots (completely unrealistic btw, seeing as how private schools have very strict uniform codes) and then another she's in designer clothes. And like someone before me said, Blake's boobs have had more screen time than actual lines. Personally, I don't find exposing my breasts very classy. The stylists need to decide what kind of girl they want Serena to be, because to me, it seems like Serena is still in the development stage.:innocent:

Its funny when you have small boobs you can show them and it doesn't look trashy wel in some cases it does but your more likely to get away with it.. but when you have bigger boobs and you expose them a little it looks unclaasy way faster them small boobs. and blakes blond hair also doesn't help.

she does wear nice clothes.. Blairs clothes are just more special and have more caracter that blakes clothes.

^^ Yup- Blair always impressed me as more of a Park Ave/Connecticut, horse show, Ralph Lauren girl who may well drive a Bentley; Serena is more the Cavalli/Versace wearing girl who dates an artist or rock musician, lives in a loft in Brooklyn and hangs out in dive bars in the East Village...

I think people love to wtch caracters that can be mean like blaire it makes them more real
