I don't agree at all. Her events and red carpet looks might be a little out there - however, like I said before, never irreverent and always classy - but she always goes along with what the occasion calls for. Her personal style is also the complete opposite of "try hard" because she always looks so damn comfortable and clean, but different. I think her style always really reflects her live-in-the-moment and pragmatic personality.

I couldn't disagree more!

First of, Leighton doesn't "try hard", in fact she's the opposite. She's very relaxed and casual in most of her day-to-day outfits.

Second of, the Emmys look was a case of miscalculated makeup and dress/lenght. The dress would have been fine if it had been tailored better to her. There was nothing wrong with her taste level.

Thirdly, Leighton is "edgy" because she likes to experiment with her style. And since she's young and gorgeous, I see nothing wrong with that. I'd rather see her experiment a little bit and miscalculate than see her stuck in the same rut in every. single. outfit. (See Blake and Taylor.)

Maybe try hard is not the best term to have used... I mean its not like she's a Kim Kardashian or anything...

But I do think her people/stylist are so keen on separating her looks from that of her character on GG that they have missed the boat a few times lately... that weird Christopher Kane dress, her jumpsuits for Letterman, VMA... its great when the experimenting yields good results like the LV look for the TCA but not for the emmys...

She needs to dress for her body type.

On the red carpet at the Emmys, the 23-year-old Gossip Girl actress spilled that the first single from her much-anticipated album will be a collaboration with R&B crooner Robin Thicke. The song’s title has not yet been released but it sounds like it’s going to be groovy song. Excited???
