Louis Vuitton: style icon or passe

sorry its taken me so long to make another post on this, my computer wasn't loading the forums correctly..but anyways..

i do agree with most of you that the monogram is classic and will never " die " as some fo you put it, but i guess i was leaning more towards the multicolore, the murakami, the bags that everyone seems to knock off. how long will the popular things last?

sorry if its not exactly clear :flower:

Wow. Some of the comments on this thread remind me why I try not to be friends with other fashion people. "Food stamps"? "Dirty nails"? "$10 boots"? Could you be any more classist and horrible?
I agree with you!

Just because someone who doesnt look typically "rich" and groomed is carrying a LV bag, it doesnt always mean that the bag is a fake :innocent:

I don't think it is classist or horrible to wonder why someone who is carrying a $900 handbag needs the government to pay for their food......It wasn't a fake!

i am sorry, but i find it hard to respect people who can easily afford taking care of themselves, like cutting their own fingernails, but still refuse to do so, for whatever reason.
it is not like these people are absoloutly broke. they do get a decent salary. why can some people, with the same amount of money, look 'clean' at least, and others with the exact same salary, look like they've been living on the streets?
i didn't mean to offend anyone or any class of people, because i know not everyone can afford the real thing..that is why there are cheaper, cute bags in H&M, for example.
:flower:
Stop. Talking. Seriously.

First of all, believe it or not, but not everyone knows/cares about Louis Vuitton bags. Many people who carry fakes probably think "oh this is a cute bag" and have absolutely no idea of the labels or campaigns or ideas or designers behind it. And good for them. Not everyone has to be a slave to fashion.

Also, your comments of being offended by dirty people on the streets are insanely appalling to me. Am I the only one that sees this? I don't know if I even have the time or energy to delve into why that is so wildly inappropriate.

I'm saddened that LV is being bootlegged left and right. I don't think it'll go out of style anytime soon because it's been a classic for so long but it kills me to see them being sold for $150+ at a little stand in the middle of the local mall!! And to see teens walking around with limited edition LV's and acting snobby when the bag is so obviously fake. I've always been a fan of LV but with all these knock offs, I'm hesitant to buy more in the future

to answer ones question:
the MULTICOLORE will become as popular (if not more) as the VERNIS.
the VERNIS wasnt meant to be a continuous line until they saw the popularity of it.
hence some of their colors have been stopped being produced.
and since the MULTICOLORE will also be a contnued line, i can just see it going the right way to sell well... better than the VERNIS does ;)

The vernis ... is the glossy version of LV ... think nail polish ... and look at this pic

The vernis is one of my favorite lines

It gives the monogram a totally different feel, so beautiful

Chickonspeed - girl you're not alone. I feel really angry toward those negative comments. People - recognise this - as chickonspeed said NOT EVERYONE IS A SLAVE TO LV OR ANY OTHER DESIGNER for that matter. It is snobby, negative and ignorant to judge people by their appearance. I have seen wealthy people with Louis Vuitton bags, that are real, collecting their Income Support/tax credits. These are people that have worked and earned those benefits. Dont assume that because someone looks a certain way - they must be poor and cant afford this or that, thats premature - you dont know that. I have also seem many rich people walking around in their 'jesus sandals', self-cut shorts, scruffy hair etc, these people are entrepreneurs who are loaded. They aren't interested in designer stuff, well not designers that anyone can recognise instantly.

Anyway, What is the big deal with Louis Vuitton anyway, its not made of gold, you know(apart from the 22k), stop making it a big deal, and let each to their own. Louis Vuitton dont know you, so dont think their stuff is exclusively for you, unless your damn name is written on it.

Hey guys i agree with you two strongly.

Anyway I love it when i see a rich person NOT dressed up in fancy labels walking into shops and buying whatever they want especially when the salespeople are so stuck up and snobby...who assume you cant afford anything in their shop because you are casually dressed... :innocent:

Tell me about it! I sometimes really feel sorry and kind of irritated by the salespeople.
They often look so unsure you really have the feeling they'll only calm down when they see your wallet. It's pretty sad :(

I hear ya! The most popular LV lines are canvas covered in plastic...don't know why people think THAT is exclusive.

OMG

It's like in Pretty Woman where she goes back into the shop!

It gives me the warm fuzzies every time.

Also, that always happens to my best friend. Sales girls see some skinny chick who doesn't wear makeup and likes baggy clothes. It's sort of sad to me that she will just walk out and go someplace else if she doesn't get good service, but she's said that she gets the best service at high end or low end stores. They always seem to muck it up in the middle.

Sorry! I know it's offtopic!

LOUIS will always stay on top JUST because it is something with a history and affordable at the same time

and yes, i also always walk into LV with my trainers and order the SAs around... when you want something you are confident. be it the sunday times or a new LOUIS bag

all the pricey designer bags i carry, all go with my baggy jeans, cargos, tunics, flip flop and converse...and my hair in a mess...basically like any other normal being  :ninja:

therefore i agree with what CHICK said, we are no slaves to labels/designers.. but more to building our own individual look. to some a LV bag is needed, to others a CARTIE Pasha with diamonds dial, or even a NAF NAF top will do.

people who got it, buy what they LIKE not what other people like ;) and therefore i think right now LV is alive more thanks to the people who only carry LV bags, collect them maybe, and those who have saved up for one ;)

peace to freedom of INDIVIDUALITY :flower:

I didn't think she meant it that way and I hope you're not thinking a negative thought on all "fashionistas"....

like don't you find it odd if someone who lives in a well, I'll be kinda frank, not too good neighborhood and on foodstamps have a authentic LV Papillon that is worth 3,000 bucks?????

That just doesn't seem like a right picture. A person with foodstamps would use that 3 thou on things around the house not a freaking purse. So thats why you think its a fake...

I know maybe they know its a fake and just wanna get into the it trend..fine whatev...but maybe they see that knockoff and be like oh nice purse and have no idea its a fake of a LV bag. Not everyone knows haute couture and that's perfectly kool. B)

HELL MY BEST FRIEND HAD NO CLUE WHY THE HELL I WAS SO EXCITED OVER A SHOE ONCE....AND I REELED AND WAS LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW MANOLO BLAHNIKS?. .THEN IT HIT ME. NOT EVERYONE LIVES IN MY COUTURE WORLD.

I DONT LIKE FAKES SPECIALLY REALLY OBVIOUS UGLY FAKES BECAUSE I WORK HARD TO BUY MY COUTURE AND NOW I THINK EVERYONES GONNA THINK MINE IS FAKE TOO BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE HAS A FAKE.

I AM IN HIGHSCHOOL ONLY AND ALTERNATE BETWEEN 1 BLACK MURAKAMI AND 1 CHERRY BLOSSOM POCHETTES, WHITE MURAKAMI SPEEDY, A DAMIER MESSENGER BAG LIKE THING(FORGOT WHAT ITS CALLED) THAT ARE ALL REAL

AND TWO OF WHICH(Cherry Blossom& Damier ones) I BOUGHT ON MY OWN MONEY I EARNED THE HARD WAY....THROUGH WORK

ITS HARD BEING A FASHION ADDICT IN HIGHSCHOOL :ninja:

SO IT TICKS ME OFF WHEN I SEE SOME CHICK NEXT TO ME WITH A FAKE IN CLASS...ITS LIKE GOD! WHEN I THOUGHT I WILL BE THE ONLY GIRL THAT CAN AFFORD TO BUY ONE(lets face it most highschoolers are not haute couture) HERE COMES SOME CHICKS THAT STEAL MY THUNDER...WITH ONE NOT EVEN REAL.

IF IT WAS A REAL ONE..I SALUTE YOU..YOURE MY FASHIONISTA BETTER..FINE WITH ME..BUT WHEN YOU STEAL MY HAPPINESS OF HAVING A REAL LV BY FLOODING THE SCHOOL WITH FAKES.... OH MY WRATH COMES!

I DONT THINK I'M THE ONLY ONE OUT THERE THAT FEELS THIS WAY TOO..

I KNOW SOME OF YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY...

Like Kermit the Frog says
"It's not easy being green."
Well if being a fashionista was being green people with fakes make it harder!
