Madonna to Adopt a baby

I heard on the news yesterday that supposedly the father of the boy was 'confused' by the adoption process and thought that his son was going to be adopted by a Christain woman (he later found out about the Kaballah stuff). But I guess he changed his mind cause David's outta there.

We all know that no matter which way you cut it, adopting a poor kid is good. But I can see why some people in Malawi are angry-- Madonna is completely shucking the rules of the government--and the government is allowing her to walk all over them.

madonna's life is so over complicated. baby psychologists, assistants, teams of everything...probably someone to wipe her backside. i think it's awful she is allowed to bend any LAW, the law of the land that no matter who you are you must follow. everyone seems to think that because she is rich that somehow the kid will have this better life because material goods are all that matter to a person. yeah, maybe the kid will be educated and won't die of preventable illness but surely putting money into funding and education for millions of people is a more profitable, healthy thing to do? that's giving and not taking. madonna just bends the law, takes a baby and will spoil it. this is a child with a parent who wishes he could support him and could if he had the help to do so.

madonna has the wealth and power to make that happen. she might want to help but she always wants something in return.

imagine how that child will feel, knowing he has a father who wanted to support him but couldn't and that you were taken and given this wonderful life when your family wasn't, they were living in poverty because mummy wanted to look worldly and selfless with her baby of a different race.

i think we all have to think beyond the individual and think of the entire situation. to think beyond one person having a great life when so many out there are suffering.

The reason this makes me so angry is because of the fact that they are letting her adopt one of these children without having to go through the regular procedures. now, not only do celebs get special treatment in shops restaurants etc they now get preferential treatment when adopting children. when will this craziness end??!?!?!?? there are families with no children who are desperate for a baby however they have to go through the long time consuming process that madonna is able to skip by giving money to the country? this isnt right.

I hate it when people say "Just think of what kind of life Madonna can give the mansions, designer clothes blah blah blah" David Banda is not an orphan he has a father who is not able to look after but but visits him every day. As well as his father he also has a large extended family who he sees regularly. Why take this child away from what really matters a family who love him?

Madonna would be better off sponsering David and his family rather then using the poor child as some form of status symbol. In fact she could sponser a hundred families with the money it would cost hiring a nanny for David!

Image the stress that the poor boy has gone few past few days....being taken from the orphanage, living with Madonna and her circus for a few days and then back to the orphanage. Madonna should be ashamed on herself for causing distress to a small child and his father.

i love your use of the word 'circus', it is spot on. madonna is no longer a person, she is a circus. maybe another reason people are so opposed to this (myself included) is that there is no humanity to madonna, nothing to relate to. which is fine, if her career is all she wants people to know about her. when she tries to do something like this, it's off...not her, everything else she has done has been a career move, so why not this.

Of course it's all a show, she could easily of donated money anonamously(sp) but no people like her can never do that. Madonna is the kind of person who will stoop to the lowest levels to get on the front pages from attaching herself to a cross in her shows to this farce of an adoption.

Between this and the article VainJane posted, this story makes me want to throw out all my Madonna albums. It's absolutely disgusting. There are plenty of true orphans. Why couldn't she choose a child with no living, loving family? Or at least not lie, or have others lie for her, and put pressure on the father, in order to get one that did? What's the incredible rush? "Good Christian woman" indeed. Way to have absolutely zero respect for the wishes of this child's family or culture.

It sounds like she picked out the one she wanted (some reports say based on pictures, some say she lined the African kids up and picked one, which sounds like something rich white women used to do frequently 200 years ago) and what Madonna wants, Madonna gets

The woman who claimed to be her mother was a fraud interviewed by The Sun IIRC.

Zahara is an orphan...that whole story about her mother was false and Angelina said they have no idea who her father is...just some random guy who could be alive or not...

The only reason Madonna looks bad is because she couldn't wait 3 days to accompany her child home herself. He should've been clutching onto his mother or father not the nanny. Her letter cleared up a lot of misconceptions about the adoption, but still...

She should have never adopt a child if a biological parent/s is still alive let alone know/found out who the adopted parents are. Doesn't that constitute a legal and emotional mess in the future?

The thing that puzzles me...what's so wrong with adopting say, a british orphan? There are lots of them..I don't know Madonna claims to love England so much, can't she help out there and provide charitable effort to a place like Malawi, enabling children to not only retain their own culture and background but gain a deeper understanding of the world around them through education?
