Marni F/W 09.10 Milan

im a total fan of this collection. it has more than met up with my hopes and tentative expectations. no more ruffles thank god! the knits are wonderfully flattering and kind of a cocoon that i can easily warp into my existing closet, after all, marni is about piecemeal to me. the dark brocades with gold trim are beautiful and bold. i can imagine that quite a bit of the fabrics are spongey like she has used before, which i loved the minute i touched them. finally her trousers have a shape i can play with as well. neat how she used the gold eye shadow as an accent for the clothes. this will be fun to play with. i can do without the shoes though, not enough of a change to move me, even though i like the square toes. the socks and tights are a blast. there is that one black coat and some of the plum dresses and knits that i am really looking forward to seeing up close.

^agree, the shoes are disappointing. Love the gold eye make up, but I have mixed feelings about the jewelry after seeing the close-ups...looks like a jumble from Grandma's jewelry box. :innocent:

yup, the jewls are way overdone...prefer when she used leather and feathers, weaved into little origami nuggets.

I love love love this the glasses and the tights are stunning. Clothes are great as well.

There're some pieces I love, some others are not flattering. I'm not a fan but most of it is ok

Those detail shots are stunning. Marni is always one of my favorite collections. So fun and fashionable.

I love how mish-mashed it all is...incredibly cohesive at the same time. Lovely.

i love it. despite everything going on, Marni is always so clean. it pulls together very well.

I like the vibe and the color combos of the collection.. but I don't get a 'must have' with any of the pieces.. it's more an inspirational collection than anything else for me.

i read on their website a bunch of their garments are made using bonded fabrics.. could be that "glue" that is creating the sponginess
it's like gluing several fabrics together
it may also make it stiff...

i've made fabrics this way...
an organza to tussah silk
