Marni F/W 07.08 Milan

I love it! A really strong collection! I'm not quite sure on the the somewhat random use of fur but other than that this is great! Beautiful colours and the wedges are perfect

I love how refreshing Marni is after the usual bling of Milan fashion week (and hard-to-swallow Prada). Nothing thrilling, but it's nice, and that's all that I ask for. Still not liking the shiny fabrics, but they weren't as offensive as they were in the spring collection. And those lace-up shoes with the peep toe are adorable.

these are absolutely on my list for next fall... i am in love!

I'm really starting to like Marni. Before, I'd never understood the aesthetic, but now I think it's very smart.

There are some great pieces here, but I'm not crazy about the fur and the prints that she used.

I have to say, in general, I really like this collection. I love all the different textures!

Everyone seems to be loving this... I look at it and try to see what's so great about it. I believe Marni is so loved because of the name. I think this collection is nothing but all season's trends made into unflattering clothes.

Not quite my cup of tea. It feels like just another collection to me. :ninja:

This is more sophisticated than usual for Marni. The tailoring is sleek, the palette somber, and the incorporation of metallics makes futurism wearable.

But the satin pumps with color blocks are borrowed from Miu Miu.

What do you mean because of the name? I think this collection is very Marni so if you like Marni aesthetic, which I think is quite distinct, you probably like this collection.

I think though Marni has changed a lot this season
It doesn't seem as light as older collections
Doesn't anyone think it actually looks a bit messy?
There seems to be something wrong...

I'm a fan of Marni but I don't think I will even grow to like this collection :(

^^ I mean because Marni has a certain name and hype around it, it's got a reputation of being good.

I wonder if this collection was done without Paulo Andersson as design director. It just doesn't seem to have the finesse the last few collections had. It seems all the good ideas got a little muddled when they were executed.
I think so too :(
Hey someone said there are 2 designers of Marni ?
Did they work together in the previous collections?

now I'm really anything but an expert but I'll simply say Marni tends to be among my favourites quite frequently and this collection was again no disappointment... I like it a lot.

Yes, I understood you meant that, but I don't think there is a hype around Marni. It's not like Prada or some of the hyped London designers that could put out anything and people will still go ooooh and aaaah about it. Like I said, I think most people who like Marni will like most of their collections because they stick to the same aesthetic, but that's not the same as living off your reputation. Of course I can't speak for others, but I don't think people are liking this because Marni has a reputation to be good.

I agree Li Ya, it's so funny because what seems like a trend for me is that kind of comments all over F/W 07.08 threads, once people dont like something, they automatically assume others dont like it either but claim they do because of the hype.. I actually find that insulting at some degree.

Well, I am sorry if I was insulting someone. What I mean is that I don't see anything special in this, nor did I see in the collection before this, but still Marni gets so much coverage. I am not saying everyone who likes it does it because of that. I just think Marni is a little bit overhyped, if we compare the latest collections to the coverage they get. That's all.

i like some individual pieces. not getting it as a collection though.
some very interesting ideas, but execution feels rushed, the little details are not refined enough, wich is a must when venturing into new directions. i don't mind the Prada links that innevitably appear..i mean..how would Prada be influentiable if it didn't actually influence.:alien:
