The thing with shows like Prada is that people, even the most demanding like us, is that we put too much emphasis on who will open or will book it as exclusive. But besides, there are models who also walk the show (thinking of London Scully this season) who totally fit in and have possibilities after it.I think the main problem these days with these newfaces is that they’re not “versatile” enough, what do i mean by that? Well just look at the latest Prada opener, she looks like she only belongs in that Prada show and that’s it. I can’t see her at Saint Laurent, or at Vuitton, cause they have a very specific aesthetic therefore they only end up booking their WW exclusive or city exclusive and they’re done by next season. Back in the days girls would fit a huge variety of shows and looks, and aesthetics, and that’s why models from many years back like Julia Nobis, Imaan, Mica, Lineisy, Kiki, Vittoria, etc are still going so strong.
Wouldn't be surprised if her previous relationship with Hugo Compte had anything to do with that.Immediately, while reading these posts, Kris Grikaite came to my mind: she has been the last Prada girl in the way we used to intend a fashion house sticked to a particular model.
Then, after some great seasons (she became a Versace and Chanel fav also) she almost disappeared.
I'm with you on this one. I miss the Russell Marsh era. He knows how to make a girl a star. You see Gemma, Daria, Missy, Stam, Elise, Julia S etc... they are the faces that you instantly remember and want to see more... and lets not forget the transformation of Shannan Click. As for Ashley's girls, 80% of them are just very forgettable and replaceable.I’m kind of over Ashley Brokaw: in regards to how appropriate the models cast are for their respective shows, I can’t fault her, but it bothers me how she casts a parade of new faces for Prada each season only to jettison the majority of them the next. Also, her influence as a star-maker seems to be waning as not even the girls who’ve debuted as Louis Vuitton exclusives are really landing anymore.
While it would be hard to disagree Prada could launch a career during Russell's days, it was also quite often a hit or a miss. I mentioned before the case of Adina Forizs who opened a cast with (too) many exclusives and almost none of them able to make it for various reasons (from lack of modeling skills to unavailability due to age etc.). And while nostalgia knocks at my door quite often too (my passion for fashion models grew up during this era), I won't let it win me over.I'm with you on this one. I miss the Russell Marsh era.
