Model Casting F/W 08.09, Cruise 09

Anyone knows who casted Albino in Milan ?
And who casted Giles in London / DAKS in Milan?

So few surprise girls at Prada. I expected Natalia to be there (and maybe even open) after the lookbook and Nelly's subtle
rolleyes.gif
hints about an exclusive, and the only other new-new girl was Cato, right? But I don't really mind, overall a good cast.

Amanda Laine was new. And modelresource.ca says that she is the V magazine/Supreme contest winner. I didn't think we'd hear on that until the next issue came out.

Amanda isn't new, so-to-speak (in the Prada sense). She did NYFW.

Am I the only one who's finding the exclusives rather boring this season? (if you can call some of them exclusives)

I actually like most of them but they're girls we kind of expected to see at the shows. The only surprises IMO were Martha Streck @ Gucci, Cat van Ee @ Prada and Daria Bichevina @ Jil Sander.

I'm not looking forward to any show this season just because Julia skipped how sad is that? Does she really mean she'll be able to skip what she wants? One day the designers won't book her but maby ethat's what she wants :(

I think models like Hilary Rhoda and Julia Stegner are at that stage in their career where they can choose if they want to do runway or not.

No Sasha, Raquel, Hilary, Julia,......... What hell is happening??????

i only can help you in with sasha:

PRADA SANS PIVOVAROVA: As models walked out in their final looks at Tuesday's Prada show, many model-savvy insiders noticed that the company's current muse du jour, Sasha Pivovarova, was missing in action. The Russian-born, New York-based supermodel, it turns out, is still recovering from an unspecified illness and has been under the weather for weeks now. According to her agent, she was able to walk only in Anna Sui in New York and planned to fly to Milan where she is usually requested by virtually every top house, but did not recover in time. The intellectual beauty is hoping to make it out to the Paris shows next week. We wish her well.

^ poor sasha :(.

there is now also a rumour raquel is skipping milan to shoot with meisel. however she finished today so she could be at fendi tomorrow.

hmm ... but a shooting with meisel ... its not a bad reason for missing some shows. imo^^

Could someone explain to me something. This is mostly about Snejana, but the question is more general.

How come someone who's been walking for a given designer every season and then all of a sudden doesn't? I'm thinking Cavalli here. It's not like she's skipping the whole week or even did anything else that day, as she did other runway shows. Do designers just stop liking them?

Anyone agrees with me that Dsquared² had anm amazing casting? They had mostly only girls who walk very well and give that wanted vibe to the clothes. Plus I loved the show Iekeliene pulled off ^_^

^I agree, Dsquared always has great casting. Although I didn't like Ali Stephens at this show, she looked quite too chilidish for the show.

It happens all the time. Models of the moment are revolving doors. When you're liked you're liked, when someone new comes along you're pushed aside. It's just the nature of the business and Snejana is no exception.

Then about the models, I mean you have to give examples.... because honestly a Jil Sander casting is ab. different from a Dolce&G. casting.....

and is this bad that fashion designers put their own vision and personnality and 'community' before the Models (because in the 90s Fashion Shows were, imo, most talked - by the general public - because of the models than because of the outfits.....)

It's pretty good that designers can now concentrate on their own vision and on the outfits, have much room for creativity without being disturbed by the general public wanting to see supermodels. But this is also a good thing for the models and the castings. Let's say that now as nobody from the general public is caring of which supermodel will appear on the runway anymore, they're also able to choose the models they really want to use, let the casting directors pushing their own choices further, experimenting new "kinds of beauty" that maybe won't appeal to the general public and maybe fit the designers' vision in a more appropriate way.
And as you've said, now a D&G casting and the Jil Sander one are totally different. Each one takes the models that fit their creations and overall vision the best way. They don't have to hire superstars to get noticed. They put the emphasis on the collection and cast the models that fit it.
No need to say how much I appreciate this situation better than the supermodel era.:flower:
