Model Casting F/W 08.09, Cruise 09

And I see Agyness is back on the runway spreading her diseases. Without the patch this time though.

I'm always amazed when someone says that they expect to see such-and-such a model at a certain show, because their look is perfect for a certain designer. How do you do this? Can someone explain to me which designers prefer which 'looks', etc, because when i watch the shows most of them seem to have the same girls in them and a lot of the girls look very different to each other so I find it hard to find a look that unifies them all.
Thanks, and please excuse my ignorance!:flower:

The trend of model casting at the FW Shows

I wanted to open a discussion regarding what seems like a trend of the casting of models for the FW Shows. I feel like the models are mostly nameless, young, sad looking models who don't seem to have the "recognition" of the girls from just a few seasons ago. They also don't seem to do more than a few shows, in one season, then they dissapear. Why do designers seem to want these girls, and not the magnificent presence of the girls from 5+ years ago... Where did the good walkers go??

i agree , i used to follow the fashionshows , but now im bored with it.I think alot of the goodwalkers as you call them have or signed big contracts /got married or are simply taking a break.the personalities of these girls are zero and they are too young for me

well first if you follow the FW just for the models.... it's kind of weird and sad, in a way .... but anyway....
it's a long time the Cindys and Naomis have left.... Then we had the ones with personnality (like the Karen Elson, Erin O'Connor) mixed with brazilians and then the russian....
and then there was this little come-back of the neo top-models.... but they basically were totaly different as Fashion Industry has grown and changed since the 90s.....

Then about the models, I mean you have to give examples.... because honestly a Jil Sander casting is ab. different from a Dolce&G. casting.....

and is this bad that fashion designers put their own vision and personnality and 'community' before the Models (because in the 90s Fashion Shows were, imo, most talked - by the general public - because of the models than because of the outfits.....)

The Australian wide jawed barbie doll is Gucci exclusive in Milan. Ah, well. Atleast she's not on every other runway.

very interesting Jourdan Dunn was in Prada...after all the stories about Prada's 'selective' casting

^^Well at least we finally have confirmation that Gucci will be using Abbey Lee. She's certainly well suited for the brand.

^ I know...exciting for Jourdan, non. Hope this is not a fleeting moment

Woo so awesome for Jourdan!
Too bad for Abbey Lee... I thought it was weird that she wasn't at D&G, so that's why.. ah well better an exclusive for Gucci than for Prada.

So Prada list is complete... My question is: where are Sasha and Raquel? I think that Raquel had something to shoot, and Sasha has some problems that I can't say in this subforum.
But also, where is Adina Forizs? Daria Strokous?

Really surprised about Adina. But she doesn't appear to be in Milan, so I guess she's either busy shooting something major, or something non-modeling related happened...?

Strokous, not so much. You could tell in NY that Russell Marsh has abandoned her....

Let me just rave about the Prada cast for a second...Jourdan OMG  Georgina OMG  Natalia C OMG  Cato van Ee OMG

There...and no Sasha? What's going on, can anyone let me know?

Nevermind I saw your post in the weight thread. Hmm, I'm kinda doubting that would be the reason.

So few surprise girls at Prada. I expected Natalia to be there (and maybe even open) after the lookbook and Nelly's subtle  hints about an exclusive, and the only other new-new girl was Cato, right? But I don't really mind, overall a good cast.

I was hoping for some real diversity, though. Very happy for Jordan, but she's been around a few seasons now, and are we supposed to believe that Miuccia/Russell just happened to take a liking to her all of a sudden? Out of nowhere? It reeks of tokenism imo...

Milan in general has been unusually predictable. Or so it feels anyway. I hope Paris will mix things up a little. :magic:

Milan's not over...Gucci, Cavalli, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana...all still to come

Yeah I had expected Alice Burdeu to show up at Prada and almost cried when she didn't. But Jourdan at Prada is very good. Now we just have to see what happens the rest of this week; I say that the best is really to come.
