Model Casting F/W 2026.27

I know it wasn’t. I’m just commenting. Chill!
You’re telling me to chill but you came at me out of nowhere? Seriously? Lol.

Anywho…regarding the thread, i was anticipating the casting for Chanel but it felt more in line with spring/summer 2026. With that being said, i enjoyed the range of models, I.e. older.
As someone pointed out earlier there were girls who i expected to book more based on their performance a season prior but they have not appeared as much as I would have thought. It’s not even worth getting excited about a new model anymore because the rise and fall is so sporadic. But as goes the industry.

I don’t know if I like Bitton casting Chanel. But Duclos casting was a bit stale anyways. Mid to mid

Chanel under Blazy had a couple of highlights. Beyond Anok and Cong He's surprise appearances (more Anok LBR, but it was also nice to see the latter) and Romina's cameo I would say Fama Diop stood out to me. She's the only one of the PPP Balenciaga Spring debuts who seems to have survived this season, right?

I still find the cast way too littered with random exclusives and given that Bhavita is the only one who profited from that deal last season, I'm not convinced there is any point in investing any interest in some of the more memorable faces. This is not a problem limited to Anita and Chanel though; so many of last season's so called exclusives from various shows seem to have been discarded immediately and are no where to be seen. Even someone like Cara Schädel who seems to have been nurtured by Ashley and LV over the last year seems to be going nowhere fast.

Thalita may be pretty, but will she last?

For example the Prada FW 2025 show, full of stand out fresh faces. Libby T and Lia Marie, just two that are still walking the major shows. Maybe a few walked a couple shows, but nothing major in terms of quality and quantity. Look at the new girls who debut at Chloe WWEs, or girls PD debuted at Fendi. They all go no where.
Even girls who debuted at YSL don't do much. The most recent crop of LV newbies hasn't done much either.

Some of the vets are slowing down, and the new girls who are taking over probably won't last long. This time next year will Saar Mansvelt Beck, Malin Rudnik, Audrey Lees, even be on the runway? TBH I don't even know if Athiec or Jacqui will last that long either.

But then all the fresh faces I like and think will have staying power vanish after one season, so what do I know haha
I've interned at an agency years ago, and still have many agent friends. From them I hear that booking a major show nowadays for a new face to debut on is not extremely hard, because the client is softer on a brand new girl and many big houses like Prada, Versace, YSL, LV, Dior are looking for brand new girls every season because they love to be the 1st to book a new girl and to have their line-up made with some girls that have never been seen on another lineup before them. But only a very few of those girls actually have the requirements to become a long term model. So for many girls the reality is that they book a major house as their 1st show, but aren't "good enough" to book mulitple major shows right after.

To book an exclusive debut the model can be a bit green and not have a perfect walk. However when that same girl then casts the week later in Paris for other major houses they expect confidence, good walk, personality etc. This is often why an outstanding face can book an exclusive but isn't able to book other houses right after because they're too green.

I definitely believe in longevity for Libby T, Jacqui and Athiec. The amount of shows they have booked since debuting means they have the personality and confidence as well. I think the same for Frauke Nijs, who booked a Prada exclusive 2nd time and walk this amount in Paris it means she is more than just a great face. As wel as Noor Khan who is hitting every major show for the 2nd season in a row and Bebe Parnell who is doing very well too. I think those new girls are some of the only ones from last year that we will keep seeing. I am definitely forgetting a few. But I think that just debuting a major show doesn't open any doors except the doors of the casting buildings, but not the door straight onto the runway. For that they have to check a lot of boxes.

This makes sense. However, I feel like often times we see girls book an exclusive and than go on to book a decent amount of shows the rest of the season despite maybe being too green. And then when next season comes around, they barely get booked at all. So I’m wondering if it’s also novelty that brands and CD’s prioritize above all else. And once it wears off, the real test of whether you’re actually interesting enough to have longevity begins.

Kind of surprised Waleska wasn't booked at Chanel. Was in the show that took place in NYC subway and is in the current campaign.

I haven't seen the Chanel show at its entirety (and don't want to), Anne V probably did look quite random but for a while, many years ago when she had just come out and had bangs and her strawberry blonde hair, she was the quintessential early 00s Chanel girl just like Ciara Nugent (who of course no one remember but that would be a crazy surprise in the upcoming seasons), her Chance by Chanel ads were everywhere.

Kind of bummed not to see Mia Armstrong and Stella everywhere, they're so early in their careers I doubt they're being selective, looks like these casting directors are just flaky and struggling to read into the market because.. most models are so nondescript and pedestrian right now. I think the nepo kids' presence has really plummeted the bar and the few models that are not ordinary and have a type of classic and timeless type of beauty are quickly discarded...

Luiza Perote and Sara Caballero are having another great season, but they need to land more ad campaigns...
Karolina Spakowski should open and close some shows this season...
And 90% of the models from 2022/2023's class have disappeared .. sad

can you name a few ones please?

Great to see Hejia Li 李禾佳 at LV again!

At this point Ashley Brokaw sees Julia Nobis more often than her family. I love her but she looks so out of place amongst kids about 15 years younger. Does she even remember when she wanted to pursue medicine at one point?
lol I screamed! you know, at the end of the day it's her life and her choice. we don't know sh*t about her personal life when she's not doing fashion week. leave her alone

I have a feeling there’s going to be a big shift in the type of models we see in the next few years, and brands are going to start tapping into the attention economy more and more. Obviously some brands will stray more away from their roots than others, but we will probably see more and more influencers/nepo babies on the runway. People don’t care about models the way used to in the 90s/early 2000s, and the only way models can really boost their desirability is by gaining followers on social media. The more eyes you have on you, the longer your career will be imo. Unfortunately, a lot of strong faces we see don’t know how to translate their personality to an online presence (tbf it’s not easy) and that probably contributes to why there has been so much turnaround these past few years.

I think this was the first time in many years that Louis Vuitton had zero debuting girls in the show? I like how Prada had like only two this season whereas normally I think they have minimum 15 and LV now none. I think the industry had so many outstanding models debuting last year maybe they will slow down with it for now.
