Marc Jacobs castings have always had (or almost always) a couple of redheads on their list and often rather unknown ones. At least as far as I can remember checking his collections. Now the main difference this time might be to see Luisa opening the show, she has had much more 'buzz' surrounding her since she started than models like Jacqueline Keller, Jeanette @ Click or Emily Fox had over the last few years... so if there is a 'red wave' at Marc Jacobs going on this season, I think it starts with Luisa being here and opening.

Diversity, indeed. In all meanings of the word and that's always good to see. Though, the list is so huge that I get dizzy looking at it and I think I'll always prefer smaller casts, more selective and focused, to a neverending lineup that might look like a catalogue of the newbies in town with a few all-time favorites thrown in the mix. Happy that Freja closed (I personally can't get enough and otherwise think she deserves it as well) and really (positively) surprised to read Ilda's name there too.

I was gonna say that! Loved the diversity.

When I was looking at the pictures, my thought was, "oh so this is what a Sonia Rykiel show would look like if black models were cast."

P.S. In fairness to Mme. Rykiel, I am more familiar with her recent shows and not her long-term history.

It seems like for years I have been waiting for what I call the -ova trend in model casting to be over and now that it is, I'm kinda sad because when I wasn't looking some of these skeezers snuck up on me and became some of my favorites. I have come to like and appreciate Sasha (she's pure lightness and joy), Maryna (my boo), Anastasia (poor thing, the craze ends just when she's getting started), Snejana (and her beautiful b****-face), Natasha (with her ghetto fabulous walk), Anja, Tanya, Magadalena, Natalia, et. al. Note I am not saying or implying that because the trend is over that that also means that these particular models careers are over.

NY castings have been so... disappointing. There's been nothing exciting about these days

I'm surprised Gwen Loos is not having her big break this season after seasons of only walking top shows.

I think there have been some interesting and decent castings so far.

Rodarte should be interesting, with Karolina Kurkova and Guinevere...

Oh yes. Take CH cast for example. But overall, nothing exciting. At least for me.
And Rodarte sounds really interesting indeed!

it seems like casting this season has been more diverse, both with different races being represented and different body types/types of looks, which i absolutely love. no one kind of beauty, you know? but i agree with some of the other comments that the casting has seemed bland, very few standouts.

Since Snejana/Natasha/Sasha/Stam/Laura/Trentini,etc haven't shown up in NY yet, is it possible that some of them could be exclusives for CK? I know it's more typical for CK to have new girls as exclusives, but I'm just wondering why those girls completely stopped doing the catwalk.

^ over the past few years those girls seem to have done less and less in new york, maybe they're saving themselves for europe? i'd love to see any of them on a CK exclusive, though.

Other than Lara, I don't see them having CK exclusives. I bet they are just waiting for the European shows.

ss10 still has some of the best newcomers

although it makes me sad to see that Anastasia and Keke already got forgetten...I love their looks

I don't really understand the castings this season. Many models that did wonderfully last season are just showing up at the most random show or not booking as much. I have noted that there was a general bend towards more commercial models and I was indeed expecting such but this is more than what I expected. The newest faces are pretty but bland for the most. I still haven't seen so many new faces that seem interesting.

To be quite honest, I'm over this whole Victoria's Secret and commercial phase. I want back to the era of the edge, rock and grunge.

I don't really see any great influence made by the Victoria's Secret girls on New York's castings.

One thing I've noticed is that agencies aren't making there new girls seem so exclusive, like, I've seen many girls walk for very respectable clients that would look great on their runway resume and then I see their name on a showlist for a really crappy show.
