I know right! There were so many Dutch girls . I just did some calculations and 30% of the cast was Dutch, lol. A new record?

Eta: There actually were 7 Dutch girls! Iris, Lara, Nimue, Lisanne, Mirte, Patricia and Daphne! So that's 35%

It has nothing to do with them not casting a redhead. I would've loved it, but I can't even think of a redhead that has ever walked CK. I just didn't see any stand out models except Lara. Last years show was just so amazing with Kirsty, Kristen, Karlie, Stella, Tanga & Iselin. This years show was just so lackluster.

Right! Gosh darn imitators, going around, purposefully looking like her. I mean heavens, they probably manipulated their genes just so they'd look like her as well!


I have to say, there are many shows people think have top notch casting but in my opinion they often still have one or two girls (or more if it's a larger cast) who are odd choices and I'm always slightly bothered by that. There are a few gems who are truly spot on though, the one that immediately comes to mind is Derek Lam this season! Lovely. And I may not be a fan of Isaac Mizrahi the designer but whoever casts his show knows what he/she is doing. Brilliant cast, not a filler in sight!

so disapointed. a 15 year old opening (although i love the dutchies!). and the skinniest blondes in fashion. v. sad to me. i thought francisco said he wanted to dress a woman? why on earth would he begin his show with a 15 year old child. the clothes were beautiful, but he needs to go back to what he was trying to do last seaon. to me, all those young new girls look paid for. not earned.

Not to sound defensive but I happened to love this season's cast. The collection has a palpable fluidity and relaxation and very girl looked so demure yet sophisticated. I agree that there were few standouts and I think the whole casting was taking Lara as the common denominator but I liked it that way (surprised to see Lisanne there though, she has never been a CK type of girl to me).

Regarding to Daphne getting the opening slot, she did a great job. Glad to know she's spreading her wings after Givenchy's protégée-ism.

Haha i love your comment Ck was just like follow the leader only she closed (and save the best for last) A little Lara celebration. Although I'm happy for Daphne, she looked lovely but she doesn't scream CK to me and is certainly not yet a woman! I'm glad to see many Dutchies, but i missed a couple big names. Lara really stands out. Hope CK stick with Lara a real women and maybe use Daphne if they love her so much for the second line.

The cast at Calvin was weak indeed... Especially compared to last season's mind-blowing cast I also really missed Toni Garrn (now that she's back after all), Luisa Bianchin (she would've suited that whole "Lara-Stone-esque"-look so well), Sophie Srej (as a CK regular) and Julia Nobis maybe (who would've been quite suitable among the rest of the girls I think). Daphne and Lara were the only refreshing and truly impressive stand-outs.

If I can recap NY in one sentence: I thought it was pretty uninteresting casting wise. No instant winning new girls, no extreme surprises. It was kinda meh. I did enjoy the return of Jourdan Dunn on the runways, and I appreciated the cast of Marc Jacobs in terms of diversity.

8 i didn't know about Hanna!! But 8 girls, holy moly Lots of castings are very Dutch, like Prada last season and therefor.

Im really dissapointed in everything that has to do with this NYFW :/ the clothes were boring (or just...nothing new), the casting of models were blah and boring. Where's the excitement?! last year there were the alexander mcqueen boots, fall were the lonnnng wide trousers & the whole 80's womanly look, etc. This season? repeat/ all over the place. Which is fine, but quite boring in my opinion.
