Several years ago, Times Magazine, in one of their fashion issues had a several page article on the movies that influenced designers such as John Galliano, Anna Sui etc.

Anna Sui liked 'Gadjo Dillo' a movie about gypsies and I think Galliano or Lagerfeld liked 'Last Year at Marienbad' as well as 'Never on Sunday.' Does anyone have this article? Or remember some of the movies?

Plunkett & Macleane This movie's most memorable scene for me is when Lady Rebecca (Liv Tyler) is dressed in white stockings, and a white nightgown, puffing away on a tobacco pipe at night laying on her bed with one foot up on her leg in a veiled/mosquito net bed in bluish light at night thinking about Jonny Lee Miller's character.

I love that scene so much; the floaty fabrics, the virginal white dress and stockings and then she unexpectedly contrasts with a very masculine, worldly tobacco pipe. The 18th c. equivalent of a teenager secretly smoking in their room?

Also, another pretty film would be 'Stealing Beauty'; a young Liv Tyler in the Tuscan countryside.

what about fur ; devil wears prada,
or the factory ( andy warhol movie? i forgot if that was the real name ? )

I finished watching Broken English (bought it from Target, lol) and watching the credits, I spotted a lot of Built by Wendy pieces; I recognized the Lightning print tunic, and the cloud necklace. I guess I'm totally playing into product placement hands but whatever; this is from the end credits:

Anna Sui
Adidas
Brian Reyes
Built by Wendy (morning after in bed scene, having coffee on bench)
Calvin Klein
Converse
Christian Louboutin
Diane Von Furstenberg
Dr. Scholls
Derek Lam
Earnest Sewn
Jane Mayle
Louis Vuitton
Marc Jacobs
Neal Sperling
Nuala (the yoga scene in Audrey's apt?)
Oliver Peoples
Puma
Rag and Bone
Swarovski
Time Hamilton
Tommy Hilfiger
10,000 Things
Wacoal (really??)
Samsonite
Illume Candles (I'm guessing all the candles in Nora's apt)
Scandia Down
C.O. Bigelow (Lipgloss at the bakery w/Julien)
Bedhead/Tigi

Now I just need to get "Le Divorce" and find out what they wore there. I'm sort of p.o.'ed bc I swear I read an article about that movie where they listed all the outfits. I hope someone gains something from my love of chick movies, Melvil Poupaud and my own pathetic romantic fall out involving French men. :p

The Royal Tenenbaums-especially Margot
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Charade
Almost Famous
The Umbrellas Of Cherbourg
Une Femme Est Une Femme
Le Mépris
Stoned
The Great Gatsby
To Catch A Thief
The Philadelphia Story
Blow Up
The Graduate
Lost In Translation-I actually love Scarlett's very simple look in that movie.
The Virgin Suicides-specifically Lux's dress in the one party the sisters have.
Bonnie and Clyde
Marie Antoinette (2006)
The Birds
Rosemary's Baby
A Hard Day's Night
Sabrina (Audrey Hepburn version)
The 400 Blows-I didn't notice this one mentioned but I love how the way the characters are dressed, especially compared to how people dress now a days
I don't really mean to include this one, but when I was little I loved the "I Enjoy being a girl" part of Flower Drum Song. I would always imagine the pretty clothes I would wear when I get older and getting to wear pretty makeup and wear nice smelling perfume.
