Question about La Chambre Syndicale de La Couture Parisienne

Does anyone here know if that school is afiliated with "le ministere de l'education nationale"? (it's for the student visa papers)

Look, it is said everywhere that most of fashion schools in Paris are crappy...
There are lot of private fashion schools whom courses are not good ( from what I heard ), you pay a lot (like 6 000 euros to 9 000 euros sometimes ) to learn a few...

For me, all those shcools are just made for pretty girls who want to show their last MJ bag. For most of those people, who are not commited, fashion is just catwalks, glamour and champagne ( really...).

The only school I consider is Duperré, because it's free, and so, there is a lot of creativity there. It's a public school and a lot of people claim that teachers and courses are great.

I'm not sure about that, but the choice is yours, if you want to have great courses or to get the reputation of a school.
I read somewhere that a loooot private schools don't worth their tuitions fees ( Modart, Prepa Mod, Condé etc.. ) but the worst is Esmod, very expensive and no education ( I read somewhere that most of time the (unskilled) teachers are missing ... and many parisian fashion houses don't want to work with their students anymore, because at the end of the day, the most important is to know how to build a garment and to have a strong education). And you know why ? Because in the past, schools such as Esmod were great and got a reputation which is now maybe overrated...

In my opinion, the majority of all those private faashion schools are dangerous because a lot of students thought that because they were in Paris, in a so called "super school" but did a big mistake.

Now, my uncle who works in Paris as a tailor told me that La Chambre Syndicale de la couture was the best school according to him...

If you can afford La Chambre Syndicale, perhaps you should go there, if not try Dupperé.
Anyway,I advise you to go open days or to contact some students by seeking them on Facebook Groups etc... The most important is to feel comfortable in this school and to learn skills.

You comment was more than very helpful. I was waiting for hearing something like that. I live in Spain and fashion doesn't have a good reputation here, so I think it would be better to study fashion in another country...

I'm travelling to Paris in September so I'll visit Duperré, I didn't here about it before, but it's great what you said.
I think you're ver very right when you talk about the kind of people that goes to those schools, people with a lot of money whom parents can afford paying that amount of money. But sometimes a good reputation says so much, it's very sad but sometimes real...

I'm doubting a lot about what to do, I'm quite lost, I hope clarify my ideas when I visit Paris.

And about Chambre Syndicale, I've heard a lot about it and it's my favorite one, it's very expensive, but not the most, it's about 500-1000€ cheaper than ESMOD or Berçot, I don't remember.

Hi IloveDiorHomme! Thank you for the list of fashion schools in Paris. I found it to be very helpful. Anyways, I am interested about Duperré. I have checked out the website but there were not much information about it in the English version.

My questions is, what do you mean by it's free? Do you mean that we don't have to pay anything? I have searched the Duperré website and others for information about the fees, but found nothing

Also, do you think that Duperré is a good school to learn about fashion design?

Duperré is free, it's written on the website.
But I guess you'll have to pay your own paper, brushes etc...

I don't know if Duperré is 'the best' fashion schools, but I can tell you it's better than the majority off all those private fashion schools where you don't learn a thing with crappy tutors ... that's my opnion.
Perhaps some private schools are excelellent ( Chambre Syndicale ) but the worst of this is ESMOD.
This schools doesn't give a damn about their students, or maybe, just their wallets ...

Oh no!!^^ I was thinking of doing this two week summer course with them (nothing technical, just a little history). They take you to different fashion and textile museums as well as French couture houses. It sounded really good, and I can't seem to find many other places in Paris that offer something like this for just a couple of weeks ( I study textile design where live so I could only come for a few weeks). I really just want to experience the industry a little and see what's being taught at the schools there. I was also thinking of Domus in Milan. But I know what you mean, a lot of these places can just use their reputation as a cash cow.

I think Duperré is a good school too.
My frd have decided to choose between Duperré and Chambre Syndicale b4.
For CS, It's really about the techniques, we only have one day from 9am - 6 pm which is about stylisime and most of the time we teach about draping, sewing and some other stuffs, Most of days we have class form 9am-6pm and we dont have the holidays as much as other school...we only have easter and christmas and summer holidays.....and It dosen't have too much homework as ESMOD...haha, becoz We have so much class and most of the time, we'll finished it in class.....but still it takes u time 2 finished....And I think we can learn a lots in the school.
And ESMOD, I think it dosen't sound bad as ilovediorhomme said, becoz my frds are studying there, they have half day class with lots of hw..and they think it's ok....

The only one I've heard is IFM in Paris, It's the best .
It's hard to get in, people said It's even harder that CSM.
But I think it's worth it

first time i'm hearing abt this institute...
i studied in paris for a year..at ecole esmod internationalle
the thing abt paris is that most of the course is in french... so if thats not ur first language.. then its really hard to cope... also in my college we only had 2 courses.. stylisme and modelisme..so it lacked diversity...and the faculty was useless..so i left that college..

parsons paris is apparently supposed to be good for fashion design...

otherwise paris is mostly known for their amazing fine art courses in their various colleges!
