Parsons School of Fashion, New York

btw,you guys,if you're familiar, london designer(highly innovative and thoughtful in her signature work)shelley fox is now head of the MA course at parsons new school and donna karan and valerie steele are the ones that tapped her for the gig. her approach to design should not only be beneficial but it's also much needed in a city that lacks an innovative spirit at great depth.

Good luck to you Fashion Studies applicants! I'm really interested in this program and it would be great to hear about it if you both are accepted...

Thank you june gloom and neonsprinkles :)!!!!

I haven't heard anything yet, but I am crossing my fingers I get accepted! I was accepted to the MA magazine program at NYU, which I am very happy about, but I would like to be accepted to Parsons as well so I can at least have a choice to make ! I am also applying to the M.A. Fashion Journalism program at CSM, which is intimidating as hell ! I have to write a 2,000 word essay, and I am completely freaking out about it. I just need to finish it at this point !

Good luck to everyone :)! I hope we all get accepted!

if you're an international student, like from canada is it more complicated to get into Parsons college? would u just need you transcripts? and wat if you say ur a mature student so over 21? (like 23...24?) Or does it all just depend on how smart you are?

I have a phone interview today with Parsons!!!!!!!! I am SUPER nervous!

Does anyone know what your ACT score gotta be to get accepted into Parsons? Mine is like 18... :(

I think there's some discussion about the building ... just read back a few pages.

hey,its given in the Parsons site that the tuition fee for a term is 18400 $ for AAS and BFA courses..Can someone please tell me if this tuition fee is for ONE SEMESTER (spring OR fall ) or for ONE ACADEMIC YEAR (spring AND fall) .....PLEASE REPLY SOON PPL :)

haa good news....so parsons is outta de loop...how de hell do you pay somethin tht steep n still launch a career as a fashion designer?

I KNOW!! I took a course with her at LCF back in the day and she was phenomenal!

I had an interview with Parsons two weeks ago and they said I should know in two weeks if I was accepted or not. I am beginning to get worried. Has anyone been accepted to the MA Fashion Studies program yet?

I'm never going to attend this school, ever! Right now I'm a junior in high school and my grades aren't that good. As of right now I have an F in algebra II and a D on english... :( the rest are As and Bs. I believe my GPA is 2.1, I feel like a total idiot! The only class I'm good at is Art II, I got a 260% on that class, rofl! I should aply for a scholarship and start selling myself on the streets. On Yves Saint Laurent I pray to even be able to go to atleast Columbia College here in Chicago.

Dont worry! In high school my marks weren't stellar either. But I got accepted nonetheless because I submitted a strong portfolio and a very creative Parsons challenge! You just need to do AMAZING on your portfolio and parsons challenge and you'll be fine!

Parsons or Berkeley College?

I got accepted into both Parsons and Berkeley College, however i do not know which one i should go to.
What are the advantages and the disadvantages?

Berkeley is a multi facted general school ... fashion is just one of it's many courses ... they also have humanities, math, accounting, science, health services, computer sciences. So fashion is not their focus as it is at Parsons.

I don't know for sure, but I beleive that if you want to work in fashion, Parsons might be a better choice since it's a fashion school and nothing else. And it probably has better contacts in the fashion industry in NY for internships, which are so important. But, Parson's costs a lot more ... it's very expensive.

Congratulations Tippy!

Both schools are very good. If you would like to work in fashion, though, I would suggest Parsons.

I am facing a similar dilemma. I got accepted into NYU for graduate school and am still waiting to hear back from Parsons. If I am accepted to Parsons, then I will most definitely go there. I am just so anxious because I haven't heard anything and it is taking longer than they told me it would.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you get accepted for?

I was wait-listed at Parsons :(! I'm really bummed because the MA Fashion Studies program sounded so tailored to my interests! My fingers are still crossed that I have a chance, though most likely not.

^I didn't :(! I applied as an incoming graduate student. I got accepted to NYU, so if I really hate NYU, maybe I will apply again to Parsons for the Fall. I guess the Fashion Studies program is SUPER competitive. There are only fifteen spots and hundreds applied. My fingers are crossed that there is still a chance I can get in, but my chances are bleak at the moment unfortunately.
