Patent bags and bags w/patent trim

the trouble i've found with patent
is that you have to spend the $$$$$$
otherwise you will end up w smthn squeaky, plasticky . .
& ultimately cheap.
which defeats the purpose of patent . .
to me it's very classic & refined in a way

I love this Lanvin hero bag in patent leather..:heart:

I'm looking for it in noral vintage leather though, as I think patent bags are fall-only bags, they tend to look a bit gaudy in summer.

I'm also after the bigger version, I don't like small and dainty bags.

ebay

the patent on Lanvin heros is gorgeous, very glossy and wet looking. I have the larger one, it's just big enough for a magazine, but mine is the style with the 1 leather top handle and long canvas strap to wear it messenger style, not the brass chain like that pic. Again, can't wait to break it out in the fall (it's not the patent that makes it a cold-weather bag to me, but rather the dark, rich color).

So would you all wear a patent bag and patent shoes together? or is that too overdone, too matchy matchy? what about if they're different colors, does that make it better or worse?

You have that bag!!? You are soo lucky... It's a classic have been looking for it, but nowhere in London seems to have any of the hero bags, Lanvin bags are really limited here, and I'd like to see bags irl. before I buy..

Plase post a picture if you can.. and please let me know if you ever want to sell it. :flower:

patent shoes + bags is a lovley combination imo.

this brings me back to 1991 or so, when i had black patent leather doc martens with a patent leather vintage bag (though i don't know if that's a good thing!) i bought some costume national black patent platform pumps last season-- can't wait to wear them again when the weather gets cool! but a bag that matches would be nice...

pucci, Thank you for posting the pic of Lanvin's hero bag. I've never seen it before but it's very nice. Are there two sizes of this bag?

As for when to wear patent, I think it looks great all year around.

sorry, I don't have a camera, but the one I have is this one (sorry to everyone who is sick of me posting about this bag all over...:(

It has a less vintage vibe than the one you posted since it doesn't have that nice chain, I like how the one you want has brass hardware, this one has silver.

They carry them at Barneys here, I actually got it on wicked sale during the summer sales.

Vanessa Bruno has a patent version of her classic bag

pucci have you tried the House of Fraser in the city? I know that sounds like an odd suggestion but they carry Chloe, Lanvin, Mulberry and a couple of other high end designer bags there and they had lots of Lanvin in there last time I was there. They might not know style names though. If not, why not phone nyc and get them to ship it to you?

oh yeah mundo...
i've seen that one..in navy...i was considering that one for about a minute...
navy patent is very nice imo...!
never saw it in black patent with the chain though...
that is REALLY awesome...

though chain straps can tend to dig into your shoulder..^_^...

**i sort of agree with chanel that good quality patent is different that a stiff hard plastic-y kind..

but i remember when i was about 19 yrs old and was on a budget...i carried a cheap patent bag because a cheap patent bag still looked better than a cheap leather bag...-cause you had to get up close to be able to tell that it was cheap...
from far away it still looked great-
whereas cheap leather alway just looks stiff and thick and ugly imo...

:flower:...

Chrome Hearts has patent stuff.
there should be some bags in patent leather
I could not find pics though

i ordered this one...
from yoox...givenchy....

if you look close you can see that it has adjustable straps....
so i'm going to see if it looks good if i shorten the strap...

but i think it's really too small for everyday...
it's really an evening bag...
but it's a GREAT evening bag...:P...

I'm looking for a big patent holdall.......... like a big bag that you clutch.....not a tote. I love that scrunched up, beaten up patent look too....I seem to have many many pairs of patent shoes but have trouble finding the bags
Will keep checking this thread out for inspiration!

They had cute patent clutches at asos.co.uk (in the style of Mischa Barton) not too long ago, you might still be able to catch some on sale... :woot: they were quite big, like you are looking for...
