Personal must-haves for F/W 07.08

sounds very marc jacobs curious...

^_^...

i think i may actually be sort of done shopping...
i got a bunch of stuff over in the UK...
and now i think it's a matter of putting the new stuff with the stuff i already have and working out some new complete looks...

though- i would like some darn jeans...
i can never find anything that i like though...:ermm:...
i am just not cut out for them i guess...
but i keep hoping i'll find something that works...
something high waisted!!!...but with skinny legs...
maybe in grey or blk...

*also need some navy blue tights...
and saw some cute tights with little flowers that i am thinking about....

 but no actual Marc this season though.

I almost bought the gorgeous silk red/blk/grey dress below..
but then decided I wouldn't get enough wear for the $$ (although I'm second guessing myself as I type).
I may or may not have a pair of his oxford pumps coming
I should check and cancel if so because I've already written them off in my head.
I tried a different pair from elsewhere and that is a trend definitely not working in my favor :D

Nothing else I saw from him really spoke to me in retail this season.
Admittedly... I am behind with what F/W had to offer on the runway :(
I find it's usually the pairings he creates that are most interesting so I'll have to go review!

PS - how high a waist? Did you check shopbop?
They seem to have every size, shape and wash when it comes to denim. ActiveEndeavors is good too :flower:

^^i think i need to try stuff on though- with jeans...you know?
i dont' think i can just order online...

i want like a regular waist...
not some super silly low or high waist fashion denim thing...
just cool jeans...

i don't know...
just ignore me...i have been saying the same thing for years...
it's never going to happen..i'm not built for jeans so unless i can find a good tailor to customize a pair...it's not going to happen...

the mj dress you posted is really pretty...and pretty pricey too...
:innocent:...
though i can't really talk since i came back from london with a $$$ junya dress that i probably won't even wear very often...
at least you would probably wear that one quite a bit...
...
:flower:

plus- i just got a yohji sweater after i said i was done with fall shopping...
...

:ninja:

 I do recall your neverending search for the 'perfect' jean. Don't lose/stain or otherwise compromise your Levi's anytime soon!

Yeah.. the dress is a pass. Maybe we'll reconnect at a later date via eBay. Oh the reunion will be so special :D In the meantime, it will stay in the "Inspiration" directory.

Playing dress up with your Yohji dress anytime soon?? Would love to see it.

junya dress>>>>>>>>yohji sweater>>>>>>>

and yes- i am going to have to figure out how to wear that dress so i am going to be playing dress up with it....:p

I had an idea for the dress last night in a dream state. I just saw it and thought it might be worth mentioning. since its so sheer and fragile couldn't you layer a long, long light jersey top under it, even the dries mohair thin sweater dress would look cool. and some grommet jazz comme shoes?

that's sweet of you to be thinking about it lucky...

it actually doesn't seem delicate or fragile at all to me...
even though it is sheer with lace...
maybe it's the big chunky twisted zipper...:innocent:
but it feels kind of 'tough'...at least on me...

and i don't think it's really tough to figure out what to wear under...
it's just a matter of trying on different tops and tights, slips, whatever...
to see what the best option is..
i have plenty of stuff...

footwear is going to be the issue...
(i will not be wearing jazz shoes-probably not ever...:ninja:...)
but i have a few options which might work...
it might be as simple as a pair of tall black boots...
whatever it will be, it will have to have a heel i think...
and the new yohji cardi will probably be great with it..

i think it will be less about HOW to wear it and more about WHERE to wear it...
:ermm:...

i have a wedding to go to...
but i don't think it's appropriate somehow...^_^...
i think i have to wear it in a more casual way...
the way i wear limi's dresses...

and i am so happy if it will get a bit cooler so i can wear my limi dresses and sweater...

^Erm... what do you think of wearing them on tFS???

....just for us tFSers????^_^

you do, you do...:flower: too many choices...

you have a limi dress? :woot: that I would like to see...

Alright, enough with the talk. Need. visual. aid. :judge:

:p

Which dress is it? Is there a picture somewhere--was it on the runway? Is there something about it that makes it difficult for everyday wear? Most of the ones I've seen are pretty quiet when you put them on, but I haven't found the one I am really looking for yet. :(

I'm sure the Yohji cardi will be great with it....it looks really good over twisted stuff. I've been wearing mine with a twisted tartan CDG top I have. ^_^

^^right right...ok ok...
here ...
this is the dress from the runway...
it's sort of the same story as the yohji...
went into dover st thinking i was going to get another dress...
i thought this one was a bit too 'girlie'
in this case...they had both, but the one i thought would be perfect was not as good...so i tried this one and BINGO!...
but i haven't worn it yet...
and i keep seeing other stuff i like too!
the collection is so much better and different in person!...

It's beautiful, soft. Is the skirt more full, or is it clingy? I have been hoping to find this one, but I haven't seen it anywhere.

Re: the jeans. Have you tried Rag & Bone? They have a lined waistband which makes them super comfy, and they have a good black stovepipe, if you can find it in your size.

I just ordered these high waisted ones for my trip.

hheheh...
well- laika...
that is of course...
the dress that i wanted and originally tried on...
but it just wasn't as good around the hip area for me...
and the neck didn't lay as nicely...etc etc...

so then i went to my second choice and it turned out to actually be much better...
very surprising...

*the skirts are prety much the same and full-ish on both...they move...
it's just a bad pic in the first....
that is why i think i will wind up wearing some sort of slip under it...
otherwise it will always be clinging in that unflattering way between the legs...
but they both would do that...
they are both sheer chiffon...

i think they have the one you posted at barney's...
and they have the one i got at the Comme store...
at least they did as of friday...

thanks for the jeans ideas...
those rag and bones are too low waisted though the leg is perfect...and the ones you got are a good waist but too tight for me...
but i am sure they will be adorable on you...
:flower:

i'm impossible when it comes to jeans...
i have trouble with the rise in most pants though...
that is why sometimes i sneak into the mens dept for pants...

:ninja:..

I know, I hate buying jeans too...I am hard to fit as well.

I don't know if you are long or short-waisted, but when I tried those stovepipes on in a different color at Barney's, they weren't low rise at all--just below the belly button. Here's a better pic from them:

ps. Of course, OF COURSE we wanted the same dress....:p thanks for the review, I will have to check at barney's next time I am there.

thanks a lot melt...:flower:...

thanks for the additional pic laika...
maybe i will try to get up enough energy to head over to co op in soho and try some stuff on...

they do look better in the second pic...
but i hate spending $$ on jeans...
:ninja:...

it's one of my quirks...
i think jeans should not be fancy or designer...
i think that defeats the whole point of a casual and low key look...

but i hate spending $$ on jeans...
:ninja:...

I know...me too. This is why I hardly wear them or buy them, and why I wish regular Levi's fit me.

But didn't you say somewhere that you got some vintage calvin klein's? That would be very cool....

yeah- i did...you have a good memory...^_^...

i just tried them on again after our chat here...
i don't know...
i am just so used to skinny leg jeans that these feel funny...:p

they def have to be worn differently...
...

maybe you could just get the leg altered softie? I had a pair of 80's levis taken in from a flare last month, now they are in between a boot & skinny and just perfect for me.
