Prada S/S 2009 Milan

some of the pieces look fantastic, while others just bombed.

certainly not my favorite prada collection and far from even being in my top 5, but i think i would have to see how the clothes look in editorials.

There's nothing I seem to like about this collection, but I know it'll look great come editorials. Makes me cringe on the runway though.

oh no i have to say i'm dissapointed! look forward to the show all day but yet i find it just not as impressive as past prada shows. :( but other than that the shoes are gorgeous!!!

Disliked it at first, but seeing the collection as a whole, par usual, it's growing on me. I can't wait to see this on editorial, and I would LOVE to own that mini destroyed red skirt and that light-weight wrinkled jacket.

Amazing! I love it. Killer shoes too - I'm not too talented in heels though, so I'll spare my heels a break.

Oh, just read your comment about the collection; IMO this mostly reflects your own sensitive sensibility rather than the collection. But very nicely put. :flower:

Thanks! And that's how it is with fashion...you always reflect yourself into the view you have on a collection :)

thanks for the pics! I like it so far, the burgandy sweater I MUST HAVE!!! The crinkled fabric looks pretty cool, cant wait to see it up close. The shoes look cool but lethal, poor ladies. I wasnt a fan at all of her fall 08 collection, now i love it after seeing the clothes up close. I could do without the midriff though! I'm sure others would like to see me do without also! :) :)

This collection does not intrigue me one bit. I can stomach the looks that feel less disheveled (like Sasha's or Annabela's) but those bare midriffs are atrocious-especially the one that goes so far up you can see under boobage. Anyways, I also agree with the NY Times review that compared to last season's collection this just isn't pushing it and is in some aspects quite random (why the use of crumpled fabric--does that connote something of significance or was it just an artistic choice done for the hell of it). OK that's all I can think of now

c'mon miuccia....leave the misogynistic footwear to your male counterparts.....I thought you were one of us.....a woman's woman.

I totally agree with you. It's sad, really.

I HATE the golds, Everything is very Carmen Miranda.:ninja:

Firstly; hated it. From a distance/on pictures it looks horrible. But on the closeups I really like it. I love the mere idea of making crumpled gold! I generally love the crumpled luxury - many things that I also loved about the Burberry Prorsum-show (although I still prefer burberry over prada, I must admit). And waiting for more falling-videos :D Poor girls!

My first impression is not too keen... but maybe I will warm to it later on (happens sometimes).

I really don't like the crinkly fabrics much - they are the sort of thing you see in expensive boutiques for 60 year olds and above in my town.

i honestly was not expecting much because i absolutely despised last season.
good thing i didn't get my hopes up.
to me, this looks like the wrappings on my grandmother's poinsettias.
its tacky, messy, and not a hit in my book.

I wasn't surprised with this - she always carries what she played with in the Mens collections over to Womens for Spring.

I knew the 90's midriff was making a comeback - but snake skin? I never thought I'd see snake skin at Prada. To me, its like DNA Dolce&Gabbana. Maybe again, shes taking something she inately hated and making it into something desirable.

Overall though, this collection was a little messy compared to her previous ideas which were so concise I think.

^ Well, she did say she hated lace but it was absolutely everywhere in the last collection.

It's really fortunate for Miuccia that almost everyone says MAYBE instead of yes or no to her collections..... so many want to like Prada, as if she was the messiah of fashion.. it sometimes annoy me

does anybody else get that feeling?

^ yes!
My reaction is opposite actually, I hated last couple of seasons, but this one I like, even if I try to hate it (and I did in the beginning) .

^^^^ your right .............call it fashion group think, i guess ie anything is good no questions asked , but thing is her collections have a lot of thought put in them and that shows so even if you hate it you end up thinking about it , thats the point I guess.

In a way, Miuccia strikes me as the type of creative person who would rather have people hate what she does than just "like" it, you know? She seems like the type who wants to elicit a strong reaction one way or another, rather than just doing something nice and pleasant.

^^^ agree!! But thats why I personally love her work. It's bold. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it but its a strong aesthetically and when she does something phenomenal it really is great.
