Project Runway Season 2

^Yep yep! As much as I adored Chloe's collection, there're definitely politics involved  (When isn't there? )

haha Chloe's boyfriend is hot-- although, he looks like he's only with her because she's got money (having her own business and all) . lol he reminds me of Nigel Barker of ANTM.
Haha, THAT'S who I was thinking of that he resembled...

Anyway, I'm happy for Chloe, even though I'm a Santino fan! She has always had good, trendy people-friendly pieces and I know she'll do well.

I'd definetely buy things from all three of them, because each one has their own high points. Santino's first dress was BREATHTAKING. I want it. So. Bad.

Seeing Nick made the show fantastic, and then Chloe won. I am so happy for her. She deserves it.

Hey Guys I was reading some old posts and people talking about Kara's collection, i thought first someone was confusing the second season kara with first season kara saun. BUT now i was on Bravo TV website and i saw there was a video of Kara (2nd season) there.... I had NO IDEA the fourth person also received the money and the oportunity to show at Olympus. I dont get it cause wen Heidi gives the last Auf whatever was months before the 3 remaining finalist go away to get their collections ready.... so the last challenge was made wheeeeeeeen?

^Kara is a decoy designer for the finale. Because Olympus FW happens before the airing of the episode where the fourth designer is eliminated, they let Kara show as well (But cut her completely out of the finale) to not give away any spoilers  Kara knows she would show at fw as long as she made it to top 4, but the show (And her) just makes it feel like she's utterly eliminated to trick the audience

Well all in all they all had good pieces in their collections!

I loved a few of Santino's dresses. I didn't see a whole lot of
continuity in his collection like I did Daniel's.

I loved Daniels collection and his jacket's were beautiful.. I almost
felt a Balenciaga vibe but I could be totally off on that statement, the
detailing on the collar of the white/cream jacket was fabulous! And
that was nice of Michael to offer him a job!

I liked alot of Chloe's detailing but I felt that the puffy outfits weren't made well like the seaming, etc.. and the little jackets/boleros weren't very good with the matching dresses. I understand what she was doing with that idea but it just didn't come out right. I'm glad she won because well I'm from Houston too:blush:

But I really wanted Daniel to win. But truth be told I can totally see them all being VERY successful in the fashion industry. Santino just needs a attitude adjustment:P These are my favorites from each designer:flower:

Santino

my favorite of the full length dresses

Loving the color of the fabric on this one

Chloe

beautiful jacket.. I also loved the "teal" blue color of 2 of her evening dresses:heart:

Daniel

the jacket is flawless:heart: I want it! Stunning on the model

And I liked these last looks as well

I totally agree

Was anyone else shocked that Chloe won ? I really liked her construction, but her fabric choice and silhouette were terrible ! Those little jacket/shrugs were beyond department store. There was very little design element in my opinion. The judges were so hung up on the collection telling a story, but what was Chloe's ? A walk through the "special occasions" dress department at Macy's ?

I thought Daniel's and Santino's collection were much more inspired. I thought either of them was a much better candidate.

This season lacked something as a whole compared to last year. Chloe winning was just another let down.

LOL!!! I couldn't agree more! Maybe when they were discussing who would be the winner, they comprimised and said they'd let Chloe win if Michael could have Daniel as an intern.

^Reality show politics  As in, strategic selection of the winner for more reasons than just talent and creativity (Though I feel that Chloe deserved to win based on those two elements alone).

In this case, as I stated previously: I feel that Chloe is capable enough to start her own line already, while Daniel and Santino can still evolve into even more incredible designers. Because of her experience and abilities in terms of marketing, the producers might feel more secure entrusting the winnings and the show's reputation in Chloe's hands, since she's almost a better "investment."

Just my two cents, though! It might not be true at all :P

Congrats Chloe. I'm sure she'll take advantage of the prize money and mentorship.

I wasn't a fan of Chloe's collection [the fabric looked tacky, cheap and garish I also think it wouldn't look good on a regular woman...for all of her woman friendly spiel] but I think they gave it to her because she was the most consistent and professional designer on there. However Nina Garcia was right when she said Santino belongs in fashion. I can't wait to see more of him. I would buy something by Santino in a minute over Chloe or Daniel...their stuff is too Anne Taylor for my tastes:doh:

my 2 cents:

was anyone else shocked that daniel's model tripped in that dress with the train? that was rebecca right? it's not like he doesn't know her body.....weird

i think santino was never going to win it, not because he was not talented enough, but because he was kept on as a "villian" on the show. they cut everything to make him look like a prick, which he was probably, but they could have cut it other ways. people love/need to have a villain and nick would not have served that role well.

i loved both chloe and daniel. however, if you ignore the politics of it(just for a moment, they are definitely there) , i think chloe met the challenge of a cohesive collection more. the pieces seemed to belong together, whether you liked them or not.

Daniel's was great spread, but it didn't feel like one collection. it seemed more like a portfolio of everything he could do, whether it went together or not.

other strange moments: "my collection is like immaculate conception" someone was VERY VERY tired

"my mom is the sh*t".......on national TV? apparently, even the mom doesn't get the benefit of manners...

I'm happy that Chloe won (although surprised). I liked many of her pieces throughout the show. These are the pieces I liked from her collection last night: (from bravotv.com)

Like the judges mentioned, I really liked where she put her seams. I think her looks are flattering, and I like her colors. I especially like the babydoll dress and the halter print minidress. These are things I would wear.

Final Cuts from Runway's Santino...
by [FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Sans-Serif]Sabrina Rojas Weiss[/FONT]

strPhotoCredits +="Santino by Mike Ruiz/Bravo, " No matter the outcome of tonight's finale (10 pm/ET on Bravo), Santino Rice's name has become practically synonymous with Project Runway's second season. And that just might be by (ahem) design. The 30-year-old Missourian had been a struggling designer in Los Angeles for 13 years, so he was determined to make an impact in the show and make it to the final three — even if it meant going over the top with his designs, arguing emphatically with the judges, talking dirt about his fellow designers and driving the competition batty through the power of song.
TVGuide.com: Where were you in your career before the show?
Santino Rice:
I had been designing in Los Angeles since 1992, and I had basically been making a lot of other people a lot of money.... I've actually had several false starts throughout the time I've been in L.A. I did a line out of India. It did relatively well; however, it was a case of the backers falling out of love with all the work that it entailed. The experience left me penniless and homeless. I've always taken risks in my life. My parents would have accepted my moving back home to Missouri, but then what would I do?
TVGuide.com: Are you a fan of other reality shows? You seem to be aware of yourself as a reality "character."
Santino:
I gave the producers a lot to work with. I think that there are a lot of aspects to my personality: I like to sing; I like to dance; I love life. I think all of those things just came into play. It was great — even when all my humor was edited out and it just looked like I was a megalomaniac or something, that's funny, too. The bottom line is, the people who I really care about know who I am. I'm a nice guy, and I just tell the truth.
TVGuide.com: Do you feel like the editing made you look bad?
Santino:
I think you can't show [everything], especially when there are 16 designers. Up until maybe the fifth or sixth episode, people only saw me for about 10 minutes in total, so it's funny that people had such strong opinions about me. Once they started fleshing out more of my personality... then it showed a more well-rounded person. I don't look like I'm crazy or evil or a villain. I came to win; I'm a passionate designer. Maybe I'm argumentative, but I have a point of view.
TVGuide.com: Why did you feel it was necessary to argue so much with the judges?
Santino:
I was listening in detail to the vocabulary that was being used by the judges, and sometimes things got thrown in, like "It's not even comfortable," and I'm like, "Well, no, Nina, it's made out of plants." And then it became combative. But this was the challenge: to use these materials, be creative and have a point of view that you're proud of and want to defend. I'd rather shoot too far than not have enough going on.
TVGuide.com: What was the hardest challenge for you?
Santino:
I think the very first challenge was the hardest. You're not in the petri dish of the studio at Parsons. You have to pay rent and you have to quit a job.... I was sitting on the plane looking at that first garment thinking, "Oh, my god, am I actually going to make it?" I was still questioning it.
TVGuide.com: Does that mean you have self-doubt underneath all that bravado?
Santino:
No, it's not self-doubt. If you ask yourself the stupid questions as a designer, [then] when someone else asks you, you're prepared.
TVGuide.com: Who did you think was your main competition?
Santino:
I felt like I was my own biggest competition. I wasn't really out to compete against other designers because it's like comparing apples to oranges. It's so arbitrary.
TVGuide.com: Was there any behind-the-scenes romance going on during the show?
Santino:
It wasn't allowed. And it's best that it wasn't, because I always said if sex were allowed, that would have been my Plan A, to have sex with everyone. And then Plan B would be to actually work really hard.
TVGuide.com: Will you be coming out with a CD?
Santino:
Oh, you know I will. I get a lot of inspiration from music, and it helps to whistle while you work. I think laughing and having a good time is what got most of us through that experience. It was like being in a golden birdcage and being prodded, day in and day out.
TVGuide.com: What was it like when you went back home to work on your collection?
Santino:
At first I went back to work [for another designer]. I needed to repair my bank account. I did that up until two months before the show, when I had to quit my job and spend all my time on my collection. I'm still paying for it. Now I'm back to a negative bank account.
TVGuide.com: Any regrets?
Santino:
No regrets whatsoever. The bottom line is where you go from here.
TVGuide.com: Finally, what I really want to know is: How many lion and tiger T-shirts do you own?
Santino:
I own one lion T-shirt and one tiger T-shirt. It's because I am a Leo and I was born in the year of the tiger. But really, my inner animal is a giraffe.
TVGuide.com: Now that explains a lot.

Yay! I'm glad that Chloe won! Say what you will but her collection looked expensive and was very well made.

Santino and Daniel's collections lacked spark. Daniel's collection looked like it belonged on Banana's Republic clothing line.

Go Chloe!

from tim gunns blog on bravotv re:santino

"As we now know, he didn't win, but he had a magnificent show. I am loath to disagree with the judges, but I did not understand their comments about the collection being poorly made. Poorly fitted, maybe, but not poorly made. Those garments could have been worn inside out and still hold up to scrutiny. Santino, I'm eager to visit your boutique at Bergdorf's! Please, make it work!"

After reviewing Daniel's collection, I have to say I'd wear every piece in it! That jacket is really gorgeous, and I really love the first look, too. I do agree that his collection was not as cohesive as Chloe's, and that's probably why she won over him. His clothes are really beautiful, though, and he'll definitely be successful in this business.

Yes, I was quite surprised, but I think it was just Rebecca's mishap. A little trip's OK. Oops!

Yay for Chloe! Dan was my fave (i might be bias because of his personality though) but he and Santino will be JUST FINE.
