Project Runway Season 3

sorry but miss puerto rico looked like a ****** from afar. she's pretty but i agree that miss japan should have taken the crown. plus puerto rico's dress was a reason she fainted a few minutes after being crowned. no kidding. at any rate, miss usa must have been relieved to not have tripped while walking on stage. that frothy thing at the bottom of her dress looked difficult to walk in compared to the flowy gowns of her competitors.

nancy o'dell wore another gown too. i like that better and i wonder who made it. here's a pic.

^ oh and there's my home rep, being photogenic and all.^_^ the blue dress on nancy o'dell looked cheap. chapel length or not, it wasn't very appealing. at least she didn't steal the show from the drama that is miss puerto rico (from her skintight, chain dress to her fainting). i agree that she fared better with that white one. :flower: thanks for that shopdiary. i also wonder who did that dress. wasn't tadashi the pageant's official designer of choice? i don't find his work particularly interesting. his ads are unimaginative and a little outdated. just my opinion :flower:

I'm glad that Miss Puerto Rico won, although I thought USA could've ranked higher. Switzerland was ugly and I don't know how she made it that far. It seems like there is always that blond girl that makes it to the top 5 that has no reason at all to be up there. Puaraguay(sp?) dress was ugly and ill fitting and she wasn't very pretty at all. I thought the yellow evening dress looked amazing against the skin of Trinidad. As far as Japan goes, her evening gown was so boring for a beauty pageant, I mean who wears a boring black gown with no glitz or glamour or anything. And she's cute and all but she's just that, only cute. And I keep hearing people say, she was so smart and all but who cares if you're smart, it's a beauty pageant for goodness sake. Just don't let someone ugly as hell win.Anyways, I've written way too much on this topic.

Thank goodness PR comes on tomorrow and we can all get back to talking about the show and the designers...lol

When Malan was speaking about his Mom throwing away his sketches I almost that he had made it up, but he does seem like the typoe of person that would have a story like that.

I thought the same thing....

He's (malan's) got a fake accent therefore trying to be something different than what he was born into. Take that and his personality and I believe his mother could have been the type to rip up his drawings. maybe shes done even worse than that. I didn't think he was faking but he could have been. Regardless, I felt bad for him because it seems like hes had a very hard life.

I feel sorry for him too. Especially when he said he doesn't have many friends. Although I can see how it would be difficult to be friends with him.

People keep saying that his accent is so fake, and yeah it sounds fake but I am not sure that it is. He was born in Thailand and grew up in Hongkong I believe, so it is entirely possibly that it is real. Plus when you move around to places that have way different accents then you start to pick up on that accent, which sometimes results in your accent sounding funny.
Whoa that is much more than I ever want to say about accents again! Haha.

I have this feeling that Malan is trying to steal a page from Karl Lagerfeld's book. KL had an imperious mother who was very difficult to please. Perhaps by associating himself with this construct he is trying to make it appear that he has the same talent, drive etc. as KL. Even tho I was sorry to see him leave, I wasn't surprised. He had been to auditions twice before and was asked on the show last year and turned them down. Was this the PR crew "bitchslap" to Malan? As stated, it's hard to take someone seriously who uses a fake accent. ACTING!!

I feel as though he could be a very high maintenance friend, and some of his mannerisms and personality traits (although entertaining on TV) would grate on me as a friend. For example: when they showed a clip of him trying out for season 2 and how he basically said that design schools and magazine editorials don't have much to offer, in front of Tim and an editor for Elle. It would be hard to take comments like that as a friend. Although I only know what I have seen about him on TV. He is a great character, but would be a hard friend for me.

He was born in Taiwan. i think PR tried to remind its viewers of it thousand times.

You're right, I knew it was something Tai. :)
Thanks for correcting me.

^ If he grew up in Hong Kong, that would explain the accent. HK was a British colony up until quite recently (1997). My mom is from there, and everyone who was raised there usually speaks English acc. to the British pronunciations. They even pronounce the letter "z" totally differently when reciting the alphabet :)

what was Santino Rice's quote about Van Gogh? Was it "If Van Gogh had had my personality then he wouldn't have had to cut off his ear?"

I need the direct quote!!
