Project Runway Season 3

^i agree about the mod challenge and vincent's dress! it was so horrible. i don't usually associate plaid with mod. i know it's a graphic print but it doesn't strike me as coming from that era. the cut and the make of the dress was horrible! his previous work (the little black dress from the third episode) would've worked better with a little modification. just finished watching this episode. stupid judges!! i remember last week they kept Robert because the judges believed in his talent(Robert was in the bottom 2 for the past two weeks)... but how come the judges didn't believe in Allison's talent?? she's done so well in the past. i really like her design. i don't see anything wrong with it. it's 1000 times cutter than Minnie Mouse :meow: the outfit's adorable!! i hate Angela's and Vincent's outfits. Angela's was like a hi-may-i-take-your-order-please-i'm-your-stripping-waitress outfit. :yuk: as for Vincent's outfit, Picasso is so jumping out of his coffin right now and slapping Vincent in the face.

oh i love Tim's take, especially his comment on Kayne's outfit:
"it looked like it was going to Pattycake’s birthday party at Angela’s art camp. Oh my. Maybe we should inaugurate a Jubilee Jumbles award?"

I completely agree. The judges looked at Allison's design like it was the most horrific thing they'd seen in their lives, whereas I liked it... Either I have extremely poor taste or they are just plain crazy. I disagree with so much that they say, though; for one, if I were a casting director, Angela and Vincent would never have gotten on. :innocent: Laura in particular fails to impress me, like she should trade in designing for tailoring. Her dress was so incredibly boring, and her designs are awfully repetitive. Like Jeffrey was saying-- it had the same cut-to-there top and high waist as always. It annoys me that this show tries to hold them up to a high fashion standard but then, when the final product is shown, the give all the credit to the wrong garments! Nonetheless I am, somehow, totally addicted to this show.

They used more "color blocking" not plaids. He could have done a mini in a more modern fabric and update her with black leggings and low high heel boots. If they did big patch pockets on the dresses, they were the same fabric or part of the color blocking design. Even a tunic with a belt would have been better than what he did. He was totally lost tho not as bad as Bradley. He was totally clueless. What planet was he living on that he didn't know Cher's style.

^ that was a major slip. who doesn't know cher? seriously? the model katie didn't know better either. apparently, having ironed, long, raven hair makes one cher. no no no! i feel bad for bradley as i really liked him. is it just me or does she resemble katie holmes a bit? one of those giggly girl next door type. she's blah!

She does resemble her and with a double chin:lol: For that challenge, he was "a squid without an ocean."^_^

Don't know their names, but the two African- American girls eliminated at the beginning of last challenge should have been picked. They had much more of the "model" aesthetic than "Katie Holmes" or some of the other girls.

I think the winner should've been Jeffrey...His outfit didnt even look like trash...And that painted-on trompe l'oeil belt was brilliant..Moreso that what Michael did..

And of course Vincent should've been kicked off..He should've been kicked off from the start..but like a previous post said: it's definitely about ratings & who makes for good TV, especially in this season it seems like..

I'll cry when Kayne leaves. He makes me smile :)

I agree with everything you say:blush:
I feel the same about Laura- its like a new Chloe but with even less innovation.
Jeffrey and Alison were trying to always do something different and it was interesting to watch.
I always know exactly what Laura will make and Vincent too:ninja:

Hahaha now that you mention it.... doesn't it kind of seem like Vincent hasn't even LOOKED at a fashion magazine since, say, 1987? He doesn't even acknowledge that his fashion is 80's oriented, does he? It's like after the mid-late eighties, he just took a humongous amount of drugs, was stoned for 20 years, then woke up one morning and was like, "I have a great idea for a dress! Let me go make some sketches! Wait... where's all my money? 401(k), huh-- doesn't sound important, money's probably better spent on making something cooky out of fabric! Project Runway, eh?"

I just don't understand him. :/

Exactly my thought! The man is completely removed from the contemporary world. Quite the opposite of what you'd expect of a good fashion designer - someone who has such a fine sense of what's next in pop culture that they can spot trends before they even happen.

Yay- Alison made D-Listed's Hot sl*t of the Day :p
I LOVE D-listed!

alison should have been eliminated simply because her outfit was hideous. and after readin the entertainment weekly interview where she blamed everyone for her failure but her ugly design and outright called her model fat i really dont have any sympathy for her

^^

Thanks for the website link... Love how the previous hot sl*t was Dianne Wiest (!). She is pretty hot

I liked her dress but hated the interview... :innocent: Alison seems like such a fake person now, sweet on the show because she thinks it could be useful, then venomous in the interview. I like her designs but the EW piece was ridiculous. And I still cannot believe they called that poor model fat. She is "bigger" if bigger means broader and less scrawny than other models, but they acted repulsed by her. She looked womanly, I really don't think "fat minnie mouse" was appropriate to say.

If Vincent isn 't thrown off soon, I may have to boycott the show. Not only does he have NO talent or taste, but he made everyone wince when he was saying the "get me off" stuff. Can anyone say mid-life crisis???

In light of Alisons recent EW interview I think this pic is appropriate.

I agree............it really should have been between ULI and Jefferey.

Jeffery's was really the only one that moved like real fabric, and the colors he used made it stand out (everyone elses was silver and white)

Orchide..............I love Dlisted.

^ Yes, Michael K (dlisted) is the best :glare: :p I am addicted.
I personally think all this hype and drama will help Alison's sales out when her 20 piece collection debuts on shopbop next month;)
She must have gotten backing from someone b/c shopbop has great labels like Catherine Malandrino, Adriano Goldschmeid, DVF, Marc Jacobs, Sass & Bide, Tara Subkoff and honestly, it seems she (aside from Malan showing at Fashion Week) has gotten the sweetest deal of any cast-off and no being tied to Macy's or a corporate sponsor.
She has something in the works with Emmett as well.
On a side note, my friend and I were shopping today and she bought a Cher postcard to give to Bradley  she thinks he will think its funny.

Well Jeffrey did just glue newspaper to fabric so that's why it looked like fabric. Most of the other designers were a little more innovative with their materials. (except Laura, whose clothes I like but I fear she is a one-note.) I agree w/Tim in his podcast, he said Allison's did look like art, as opposed to Vincents. I don't love her as much after the interview though. She didn't come across well, IMO. But she'll have a career, anyway, unlike Vincent.

It's so hard to say who will go next because of the crazy thinking the judges have exhibited. Maybe they want to keep us on our toes.
