Jeffrey's looked extremelly cheap and was not concise. Plus his theme didn't really go with the collection. "Japenese Fairy Tales" the pictures were so colorful and exciting while his collection in comnparison was boring. No asian inspired fabrics, prints, cuts or patterns.
None of their stuff was that exciting. No one explored a theme abstractly or worked with interesting ideas. It just seemed like clothes based on trends and constrained aesthetics. And if an 18 year old from Arkansas can see that; something is terribly wrong with the judges.
(I wanna see some imagination in American fashion.)

^ While imagination is great, the most important factor in fashion comes down to marketability. Although we may love Galliano's surreal mind, for example, it is the classy-yet-wearable Calvin Klein that ultimately brings in the most profit. That is precisely why I love Laura--her construction is impeccable, she has a very sophisticated aesthetic, and most importantly: her clothes would be a huge retail success.

great pt ranger! jeffery 's theme sounded really interesting until i saw the result. i was disappointed--- all of their collections seemed as if they just burnt out and didn't go out with a Bang...EXCEPT i don't know if this was discovered already but E news showed a clip of the final four at Bryant Park setting up for their shows and Jeffery was there!!!! i also fell for the preview on Bravo suggesting that he was disqualified..surprisingly the clothes {they anticlimactically showed bits of their collections going down the runway} were a lot better looking...may be they just show the ugliest stuff to surprise us at the end. i'm still xcited for the finale tho:woot::woot::woot:........................:innocent:

From what I saw of Jeffrey's collection so far, I think it is quite wearable. It's not over the top artsy like some designers work. Okay, maybe I'm a bit biased because I really am rootin for Jeff, but I just think he has great artistic talent and an eye for novelty.

So what's the verdict among everyone? Did Jeffrey have help with the construction or no?

I don't think Jeffrey cheated. Like others pointed out, he has a workspace with professional machines that may explain the clean finishing and stitching that Laura noticed. A workspace separate from home can do wonders with one's productivity because there are less distractions. Laura, five kids and pregnant? Five minutes with the kids here and there can add up. Plus Laura did a lot of intricate beading. Jeffrey had none, I believe. Laura also had to create five new pieces from when Tim Gunn visited her while it appeared that Jeffrey was almost done. I think Jeffrey was more hurt than angry that anybody would think that he cheated. He's looking to redeem himself from his past and now this. Can't the guy get a break? He has also shown to be efficient and productive during the challenges. I don't recall exactly what episode it was that he had three pieces all done while the others were still slugging away.

Anyhow, looks like the previews are misleading. I'm thinking Jeffrey cries for joy because he's still in. But when Tim said "Unfortunately...", that probably meant that one of his pieces would have to be disqualified, like the shorts that he sent out for pleating (I don't recall seeing that from his runway collection). Therefore, Jeffrey would have to replace that piece requiring him to produce another one within three days of fashion week.

So in the end, everybody's happy right? I just hope that this doesn't taint Jeffrey's chances of winning. An *** he may be, but the guy has definitely shown some talent.

Sing it sistah

I agree...i think jeff did his thing and worked hard... i make cloths aswelll and it can take a while to do a garment but im sure he has great experience...im not mad at laura cuz i wouldve thought the same thing...a garment sowed well takes lots of experience but i hope jeff is not lying....i think laura will win im rooting for her or uli...they have great cloths.....michael is a bit dissapointing....his cloths are bit plain n simple he could have done way better specially cuz his work is wearable and consists of pieces....jeff has great style but his collections just seems out of proportion....i dont c the relating of it...but they ok...i hope is laura and uli at the end :D

I just noticed that Jeffrey had blonde wigs for his 12 models for the final runway show. The models did not wear the wigs at Bryant Park.

Do you think that's what Tim was referring to when he said "unfortunately...?"
Maybe that since Jeff didnt make it in any way, shape or form, that he wasnt able to use them? That would make sense, no?

i don't get why jeffery sent out shorts for pleating. um..isn't the whole point that you sew the stuff yourself? I'm glad laura made her suspicions known. he supposedly made 2 collections in that short of time? He must have magic sewing machines...

Because he wanted his shorts pleated. Having special work done is allowed in the rules. Santino had someone else pleat his work last season and Jay had someone do all of his knit pieces in season 1. Seeing as Laura's "suspicions" were based on nothing more than seeing the finished pants she looks like a jealous b*tch, IMO.

I definitely dont think Laura was jealous. I think she wanted to keep things on an even playing field, as I think anyone would, in that situation. And keeping in mind that Jeffrey isnt quite at Laura's standard for workmanship, I can see understand her suspicions - I mean, the guy had NOTHING to do for days and days. Everything was perfect - that's a little ridiculous. I can understand everyone's suspicions.

On another note, I thought the rules allowed for a little help with certain pieces - but Kasha, you said Jay from Season 1 had ALL of his knit work done by someone else? Didnt he win precisely bc of his designs, which were VERY knit-oriented? I thought he just got a little bit here and there done professionally?

^ Didn't Jay and his sister work on the knitting together? I remember him saying that it was the only type of special work done.

is there anyone out there that can tell me for sure what month the next fashion week will be? fall 2007 collections. -Is it the same every year?-Thanks in advance!

First of all, I'm pretty sure it was the quilting that Jay did himself (the beautiful long coat), and that he did some of the crocheted pieces himself/had some of it made for him.

As far as Jeffrey cheating/getting help: I am a little leary of Jeffrey's reaction when Laura confronted him because he was very quiet and not the usual "angry jeffrey". But I also believe that he seems calmer in general since the show aired. Maybe even happier (dare I say it). So maybe that's why he wasn't very defensive. Also, the more I think about it the more a really do believe that he could've finished it himself. Laura is pregant with 5 young boys. Hello... Michael waited 2 or 3 weeks before he even started his collection. And Uli, God love her, is very spacey and... almost in la-la land. Jeffrey has a very clear aesthetic, is very driven and appreciative of how far he's come, and he is a professional. I wish him luck. Laura and Jeffrey are both giving each other a run for their money.

p.s. i'm glad jeffrey didn't use the wigs. I think they would have ruined his collection.
