R.I.P. Tom Nicon

RIP I wasn't very familiar with his work but its quite tragic that very young models are dying at such an alarming rate!

French model Tom Nicon found dead in Milan

This tragic information was just told to me by a friend of Tom Nicon's here in Milan.

22 year old French model Tom Nicon was found dead in Milan this morning after he fell from his apartment window. According to the friend, "He did the Versace fitting this morning. After that he was supposed to go to his agency but he never arrived. I don't know if it was suicide or if he fell." His agency declined to comment. Nicon was a top show model, and had walked for Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Costume National, Versace, Kenzo, Gareth Pugh and Hugo Boss among others. He is the eighth model to die in the last two years (including Ambrose Olsen and Lina Marulanda this year alone). As a fellow model said this afternoon, "People think we are young and beautiful and rich and happy. But we're not. We go to castings and the directors take one look at us and then we're dismissed. You spend your whole life wondering what's wrong with you. Why didn't I get that job? You're competing with your friends, you're away from your family. The pressure is huge. It's not the fairytale life people would expect." Milan Fashion Week begins tomorrow. A tribute seems likely - several of the designers showing on the first day (including Costume National and Burberry) were regular clients of Nicon's.

My sincere condolences go out to Tom Nicon's family and friends.

This is sooo true !!

Man, I just heard about it. Really sad. I didn't really know who he was but condolences to his family & friends. I'm hoping it was accidental too, another suicide would be too horrible.

Just as the men's shows are about to start in Milano comes tragic news: French male model and catwalk regular Tom Nicon, 22, was found dead after falling from his window in his Milanese apartment. Nicon, who has posed for everyone from Costume National to Louis Vuitton and Gareth Pugh, had just returned from a Versace fitting and was scheduled to visit his agency that afternoon. Insiders are wondering if it was suicide, but the notoriously slow and corrupt Italian police have not made a statement. Stay tuned. R.I.P. Tom.

Even though we don't have an official confirmation, this is so sad, he was so young :(

May he RIP.
However, why are people already blaming the fashion industry for his death?
No one knows yet if it was a suicide or an accident. And besides, for all you know, he could've been secretly suffering from depression unrelated to his job as a model. Usually by the time a depressed person commits suicide, they've gone through a years-long struggle with the condition.

omg. my heart is breaking. rip tom. im thinking he would have been on the burberry show later. this is so sad.

Burberry shows won't be the same without you Tom. You seemed like a genuinely kind person with a great sense of humor. Your presence will be missed.
Rest in peace Tom.

 i can't believe it! this is so incredibly tragic. my condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Tom.

If it was suicide, it's just further proof that depression does not discriminate. You can be living what looks to be the ideal life to some on the outside, but suffering in silence. I wish people would discuss depression more, it's one of the main causes of death for the younger generation and yet there is still such taboo around the subject.

Ok, so I've had a really hard time coping with this. He was one of the only models I've been able to meet. He was so sweet, funny, charming, and shy in the cutest way possible. Its been tearing me up all day to the point where I can't get anything done. The reality of the situation keeps hitting me over and over. I can't imagine how his family and friends are feeling right now. Its so sad. I just wish this never happened. It doesn't seem real. I don't want it to be!:cry::( RIP Tom
