I always thought it was absolutely typical for a beginner model to have never had a training for the catwalk... I mean, where can you get that training unless you go to a modeling school, which most models never did ?

Noooo. There are loads of people in the UK called Gemma. If anything, Jemma is the more unusual spelling rather than the other way around.
