But look at what he's done with Margiela, everybody wants to be Margiela right now, and if you had told me in the Galliano-Dior era that he could go from those great theatrics and outfits to this, well it'd been hard to believe, but he's done it.

He's genius enough that he can adapt and then go above and beyond all the other mere mortal designers.

WOW! this is really unexpected but it make sense...
He was one of the only big designer with his non-compete agreement coming to an end.
As Burberry wants to be "luxury" again, it makes totally sense.
The prices will be insane at Burberry but this is a good opportunity for him to reinvent himself.

Yes, her break will be long. I mean, she is not going to have a farewell show and has decided to retire quietly.

But as i said somewhere else, i've heard that she was in a meeting at Rue Cambon 2 years ago. Karl loves her and has always said great things about her so she can be a potential contender for the job in the future. Basically every designer that Karl like can be a contender.

Those who are saying that Galliano can do Chanel are really dreaming. Karl is going to decide who is going to replace him and he has expressed his disappointement over Galliano's behaviour after the debacle.

Not to mention that Chanel is a Swiss-American brand. They are too pragmatic to hire someone who had made those comments, even more knowing the story between the Weirthemers and Gabrielle Chanel.


Good for Riccardo and seriously, after that tacky Last show of Bailey, Burberry needs some class back. So i hope that Riccardo will surprise us.

It does seem like this would be a dream scenario, Phoebe will clearly take few years off, coming back to take over Chanel would be such an amazing moment. But Tisci is at Burberry now, so anything is possible.

This is the best news for the BFC and other British brands because now all the buyers will flock to London Fashion Week as well as the big models. Tisci has that draw. He's also going to draw a massive celebrity crowd to London for fashion week. I'm sure all those factors were considered in the decision to hire him. He's probably very expensive.

Ha! When you look at Christoper's creative trajectory at Burberry, he only really had complete liberty once he proved himself at the house e.g. made them tons of money. The UK is still the brand's major sphere of turnover and Bailey's sales took a bit of a dive towards the close of 2017. Tisci will have to pull out all the stunts, of which I'm not sure he's got much that will actually translate into sales.

Yeah, this will not be an easy role for Tisci, that much is clear. It seems like such a weird pair up, too. I think Ricardo is business savvy, so that is why this shocks me, that he would take up Burberry with so much at stake. Because if he doesn't perform for them, he will be out, very quickly! Gimmicks will NOT sell at Burberry.

First, Hedi goes to Céline. Then is very real the chance of Kim Jones going to Versace (a new brand dead if that's true). And now Riccardo is wasting his talent for an english house. It doesn't make any sense. He is perfect for Versace.

All those surprising movements are giving me headaches.

I read he last year that negotiations with him at Versace fell apart sometime around June, so that's been done for a while.

I really did not see this coming, and his style doesn't really suit burberry imo, but I'll take it considering the mess this brand has become

British fashion houses feel so dowdy and needs lots of dusting, Burberry included. So whilst I am somewhat disappointed with his appointment, i am also excited with the perceived mismatch and anticipate a brand new, dark and gothic Burberry.

Tisci has charm, and clout, so this should help.

I think Burberry will limite him. He's so creative and capable of so much. I love his couture designs.

Also, why leave Givenchy to join Burberry? Makes no sense to me, at all.
