Rodarte for Target

^ it usually works if you just type the designer's name in the search area, but "Rodarte" brings up nothing right now. I think we'll have to be a bit closer to dec. 20th for that to work.

that fuschia get-up looks like a mrs. claus outfit from an adult store

lol, I can finally see the pics! It reminds me of something from Cache during the 90's! I see stuff like that at the thrift store all the time.

^you know,it does kind of remind one of cheap and cheesy mall stuff you'd find scouring second-hand shops, like prom dresses from sears in the 80's.

apart from the lace cardigans nothing really stands out for me, i wish they could make some of their knit leggings! i guess that's the limitations of collaborating with chain stores

i'm not sure why people here disliked the rodarte for target ads so much. i believe they were photographed by the same photograher that did the last rodarte campaign and has worked with rodarte since they began (autumn de wilde)

here is an editorial from paper magazine shot by autumn de wilde. (papermag.com)

I went and checked out the stuff today. I am a total Rodarte fan but i'll be honest... I still don't get the choice of aesthetic for this, even when aimed to a younger audience / lower price range.
once I was there, most of the stuff, especially the printed pieces, looked pretty cheesy. not only aesthetically, either - I checked out the hem on some of the dresses as well and though I wasn't expecting amazing quality... many of them were already coming apart in most places. D:

but anyway I love the Mulleavy's so I grabbed the only thing that slightly appealed to me, as a layering piece, which was the black lace cardi.

+ I am going back to Target tomorrow to get some gift wrap and I'd be glad to take detail pics of something if anyone is interested but would like to see it closer up. :flower:

I just bought the Tan lace dress from target at there pop up shop! i love the dress! i cant wait to get everything else

inaya, that's exactly what i was thinking of getting for my sister for x-mas. that and maybe that Napoleon blouse are probably the only items that really appeal to me.

the stuff was out at one of my targets today so i went in and actually bought a few things :p

took some pics in the dressing room that i am uploading now...
and one or two of the things i got will probably go back...
i was in a rush so i kind of did a bit of a grab and go sort of thing so i wouldn't be late to an appointment..
buy now, think later sort of mentality

will post some pics in a little bit as i'm literally getting them off the camera as i type this ;)

*also, just thought i should note what was and wasn't there...
they for the most part just had one piece out in each size...

they had....
the leopard dress
the blk bow dress and the bow dress in a flowery pattern....
the blue tulle/dotted dress
blk and beige versions of the lingerie style/tulle dress with the bows on the shoulders and sheer top
the navy sheer tulle shirt with the bow
a navy lace short sleeved shirt
navy/black and fuschia versions of a skirt with a tulle overlay
a mustard colored lacy patterned skirt with a peachy tulle partial overlay (i have a pic of this)
mustard and pink with lace trim camisole style shirts
lace cardigan in blk and yellow/mustard
blk/beige lace patterned dress
flowery rain coat
flower strapless (?) bikini
blk with lace bikini
grey cardigan
grey leopard print sequin dress (sequins all over, both sides)
striped long sleeve t-shirt...

that's all i remember at the moment...
no accessories (belts/stockings etc)
no rib cage dress
no leopard coat

uhhh just remembered I have a party to go to Friday that I have nothing to wear to and some of this stuff would be perfect. I hope Target has the stuff out by Friday morning and that I have time to head out there.

ok... here are a bunch of pics
excuse the boots! didn't take them off in the fitting room :p
i'll list the sizes as well if that's helpful :flower:

blk lingerie dress with tulle overlay - size M
bought this one... but thinking i will prob bring it back... not sure it's versatile enough for my wardrobe

peachy version as well - size M
did not buy this one...

leopard dress... i think this was the size 7
(i tried both 7 and 9... 7 was more snug than i would have liked and 9 was too big, a little gaping in the hips and a couple other places)
i didn't buy this....
also felt it was a bit shorter than i would have liked
*bows weren't snapped into place in the second photo

lace print dress.. size M
i did buy this one...
i think it's the most versatile...
can be worn in winter with a blk t-shirt or long sleeve underneath
good for work... can be dressed up/down...
i intend to wear it with a blk belt

lace cardigans... mustard and blk.. (they didn't have the beige/peachy version)
mustard = M, blk = S...
both fit but i preferred the slouchier feel of the M on me...
bought both in medium...

mustard camisole thing... i think it was a size S
didn't end up buying...
in the second pic is the mustard skirt... size 9
i don't have a detail pic but i bought it...
looks better in person and styled differently

and last... the blk bikini..
probably more of me than i ever that i'd show on here but i ended up getting it so whatever!
this is the M... i also grabbed the large which in the end is the one i'll keep i think...
the L has more coverage on the butt and this one squished my boobs a bit... (i'm a 34C)
each piece is sold separately so you can mix/match sizes if necessary

thanks so much for all the pictures! The bikini looks a little like lingerie, but I love it!

chrissy, thank so much for the great pics! :woot::heart:
the bikini looks great! and i also like the lace print dress...
i could see that working many different ways...

i really want to see the floral raincoat and bikini and the striped shirt (that they keep showing under the rib cage dress)...
i'm also intrigued by the grey allover sequin leopard dress...does it look like the yellow/brown one?

i got a grey cardigan (with the scarf) in a S but now i'm thinking i should have gotten a medium...

wow amazing..love the pics ChrissyM. did you see that black halter dress?

yes the had lots of the blk halter dress actually...
i didn't try it on because it's not really my style, but in retrospect i should have just to see how it looked :p

kimair the grey sequin dress was the same cut as the blk/beige lace print dress (I think)...
had the same elastic waist and scoop neck
so it's actually completely different from the yellow/brown leopard print

the material on the striped shirt actually felt pretty good (i didn't try this one on either but again in retrospect i'm kind of wishing i had)... relatively thick, kind of like GAP cotton favorite tees from what i remember...

the bikini definitely looks like lingerie (the fitting room lady tried to take the bottom away from me, telling me i wasn't allowed to try the panties ... i assured her it was actually a swimsuit :innocent:)
i think that's why i liked it though...
i don't have a blk bikini and i like that it's not what you would typically see on the beach/by the pool..
the lace gives it some interest..

the floral bikini was cute though...
i believe it has a ring in the middle...
not sure how to describe it...
basically a loop with no fabric...
i didn't try it because that style squishes my boobs and doesn't work on me...

i was intrigued by the flowered jacket and would have liked to see it on but i resisted because i really don't need another rain jacket and i didn't want to be tempted

i wish i had taken some pics of the racks but i didn't want to draw attention to myself...
i'm sure there will be more coming...
there were no actual rodarte signs up from what i remember and i think there should have been more merchandise
