Rodarte S/S 10 New York

i don't get the Rodarte aesthetic, i wish i could but their clothes do nothing for me.

As one tfs-er so aptly described, Rodarte's aesthetic is poisoned femininity. Or at least was. It might be going in a new direction now.

It's amazing. It's by far the sisters' least wearable collection, yet it's probably one of their most artistic. I also love how they try different things and still manage to keep their distinctive look.

It is just a few off from being costumery. I do like some of it though, but not quite what I was expecting.

its absoloutely stunning. its like balenciaga for the young rocker :mohawk:

amazing !

It's a lot to take in and I'm excited to read the reviews but I love how all of this looks. I always love how Rodarte shows are like installations. Fashion as a form of art.

I am totally, completely and utterly in love with this.
And the prints are amazing. Every piece is a work of art, can't even begin to imagine the price points!
My fave collection of theirs, and i realy loved their others.

Even though maybe their dresses aren't considered "wearable" by the mainstream, I still find that Rodarte has developed quite a loyal following by celebrities who seem to love to wear their garments and support Laura and Kate.
Clothing like this doesn't come out of American designers too often.

what tribes the tatoo refer to ?

I think it looks a little bit like Tā moko, the permanent body and face marking by Māori. Or at least like somethng from an Oceanian tribe, so I don't really understand the reference to native Americans.

berlin have you been to colette yet to check their curated section and window?

my...i keep coming back to look at these looks and i am more and more impressed every time. it's like they upped the ante in the bewitching department. so mesmerising these textures are.

am i the only who's being reminded of swamp thing meets dario argento regarding the venue? you know they love their horror films...

just saw the full collection on catwalking

some outfits remind me of xena

I'm not really feeling it, very conceptual for my taste, looks unfinished, too many different fabrics, too dark, I can't wait to see the retail version of the collection.

i don't think the clothes by rodarte work very well on pictures, i've seen quite a few of their clothes up close and it's much more beautiful in real life..

For me good clothes have to look excellent from every angle, afar and close. This looks like patchwork to me, with radon ribons sowed together. Does nothing for the female shape (personal preference here). No amount of up close detail would make me want to wear something that looks like a result of ingneous use of left over fabric.

But they have a lot of fans which i don't understand. I am obviously missing something.
