San Francisco Shopping

Btw, Jeremy's sucks. except for when their cashmere is marked down 50%+.

If I were a cross-dresser, I would stick with Metier as my goto store. The fall Mayle stuff is peppered.

^thanks for the info on jeremys, unmetro and sleazie. i will skipout. i wanted to check out harput's market on fillmore too as they carry susan cianciolo but i heard it is a bit of a bust. do you have any insight on them?

Bloomingdale's opened. I went through the men's dept. Saw some cool stuff, especially Junya Watanabe, Number (n)ine, Martin Margiela, and a Marc Jacobs satin (?) version of an MA-1 aviator's jacket that made my pulse race.

It was a madhouse in there (not the men's dept. as much as the whole mall the Bloomie's is located in.)

i went to the new westfield centre, too.
all the little old chinese ladies were lining up for a free bloomies umbrella!

^ I was wondering why everyone was carrying around umbrellas!

:( I didn't get one...

Today the power went out in the whole building, around 3 or 4 o'clock... thousands of dollars in lost sales, no doubt... scandal!

that's not too good, but i noticed when i went to other stores outside of the mall, it was kind of dead. at least we don't need air conditioning....
i had no patience to line up for a umbrella.

Yeh, my friend was just telling me about how the mall reached full capacity on both Saturday and Sunday . . . DAMN! To try and shop and maneuver your way around floors with that many bodies gives me a major headache just thinking about it . . . like walking into the H&M on Powell on a Saturday, times 1,000! I also heard about the :o (gasp) long line that wrapped around Market, 4th, and Mission . . . I would not stand in line for a free umbrella, the "Governator," or whatever other reason in regards to a grand opening . . . :shifty: well, for Gavin Newsom, maybe . . . :innocent: . . .

Okay, above all that, WOOHOO!!! "BLOOMIES" . . .

The new Westfield Centre is gorgeous! A little too "aspirational" for me, but I'm keen on the Burke-Williams spa on the fifth floor, and the O Boticario kiosk (fresh-smelling, Brazilian perfumes) on the third. Bloomingdales will be the death of what credit rating I have left, though!

Found a lovely boutique--Venus Superstar on 1112 Sutter @ Larkin. I got a great handmade felt fedora from a local designer label, O'Lover Hats. I didn't have time to browse--I just knew I needed the hat (a couple came into the Halloween shop where I'm working parttime wearing the same designer's hats. They pointed me in the right direction.) Everything is unique and fun and local-artist based. You are guaranteed to get something no one else has! I'll take a photo of me in the hat at some point to prove it...

Here's a link to their webpage, no online shopping as of yet:

And here are some reviews more knowledgeable than mine at Yelp!:

I know I'm a little late, but I fnally went to Bloomingdale's in SF. Maybe it's because I already browsed through Neiman's and Nordstrom's first and breezed through Bloomy's last, but I fail to see what was so special. The prices didn't rival the other two department stores ?
I just think it's a bit silly-- Bloomingdales right next to Nordstrom and then Barney's next to Neiman's :ninja:

What I find great is that there's a Marshalls on 5th Street, a Ross Dress for Less right on 4th, and just the right touch of Third World squalor right up Market betweem 6th and 9th or so. I particularly love how United Nations Plaza is filled with Latino day laborers! Tres chic, this little bubble of luxury between the landfill of the Financial District and the reality of all the poor worker bees. I love watching the unsuspecting Eurotourist clutch their shopping bags tighter around the pushers and dealers at 6th and Market. Everybody is blinkered and pushy on the sidewalks, as not seeing is the only way to enjoy the ostentation.

Although I think it's silly that all these luxe shops are banged right up against each other, you'd die of silliness on Madison Ave in New York. I can't wait for Barney's myself, just for their exclusives on perfume!

Yeah, its really strange how downtown SF is set up. On one side of the street, it is a busy and containing luxury stores. And as you move down one block to the next, the streets get poorer and poorer

Denim heads, check out Self Edge at 714 Valencia, at 18th. Great store, nice people, hard-to-find artisanal denim.

Also a nice selection of tee shirts and hoodies.

no affiliation, just a happy customer.

thanks tang! :flower:

does anyone know why the versace store closed?

Can someone please give me some info on the parking situation at the new Westfield Centre/Bloomingdale's? I'll be there this Sunday. Would it be wise to just park at the O'Farrell garage and just walk over?

i LOVE JEREMY'S!!!!
I've bought brand new Manolos, marc jacobs and Louboutins there for more than 50% off! !

It's one of those stores that are a hit or miss.
Sometimes its a bust, but other times, if you're patient, you can find awesome stuff.

referring to a previous post - i've seen yohji yamamoto pieces at Jeremy's.

You could try that but right now Union Square is mobbed with holiday shoppers and that garage is often full. I would try the parking garage at 5th and Mission; it's about the same distance away and I think you will have better luck there.

^Excellent! I had forgotten about that garage. Thank you. Can't wait to check this monolith of a shopping center out!:flower: More than that, I can't wait to return to my "home" city for a visit. I  San Francisco!
