Oh & just to clarify, I think it's a bit more practical to wear them in the fall as oppossed to the dead of winter. Just like people are wearing sweater dresses & mini dresses, those are two huge trends this fall/winter season. They both expose your legs & most find the solution for that is to wear thick tights. Some people aren't even bothering putting pants on & just walk out with thick leggings etc. so that I would have to say would be clasified as insanity.

OMFG! This just brought back all the memories of my childhood spent in Japan. The Japanese people there are CRAZY! I had uniforms in kindergarten, and we had to wear shorts ALL SEASON LONG. Yes, even when it was snowing outside. And Tokyo's (where i lived) temperature in the winter is not far off from where i live now (southern canada). To top it off, we were only allowed a thin fleece jacket in the winter. I think my immunity was really good back then though - i don't remember getting sick that much.
Maybe I'll try this in the fall when I find myself a cute, tailored pair of short shorts that don't look like they belong in a Guess? ad.
As long as you wear boots and thick tights it's cosy. I find it more comfy even than jeans if you're going out to eat or to a pub cos you're sitting down for so long. Mind you, I wouldn't really wear it day to day, only if I'm doing something a bit different..
