I think it would be difficult to get anyone to sign on to do a collection at the moment as it is set up for failure. A big portion of the world has no idea when we will be going out somewhere we can wear something nice again. The collection is good i think, but working with H&M on some projects in the past, they only care about mass-selling so it’s a surprise for me this choice. I thought they learn from the Erdem collection that didn’t sell good compared to other collaborations. Simone Rocha may not be the same type of brand as Moschino or Balmain but i think the expectations are high too.
i saw on ig that they make a magazine about this collaboration, but don’t remember the account, looks nice with lots of pictures of fittings, etc

You know you're probably right but for me at least it means there's something to look forward to!Exactly there is no point on doing this now, just because last year was chaotic...it is a bit disconnected tbh. They need to put it on hold and focus on collaborations with smaller brands that sells more lifestyle than fashion. Even if u want to dress nicer to be at home, that collection it is for BC (before Covid).

I probably like the womenswear the most because it's such a great example of making her signature more accessible. Also it's just gorgeous! It's a pity this collab had to happen now because I also sense that it won't sell well.
Hope so for their sake. Their results a couple of weeks ago were a shocker compared to market expectations and share price has suffered. If they can't do something soon to bring back their dividend and make the market happy they will have to start closing even more stores. If serious fashion fans won't buy it flippers will. This will sell out just like H&M's two previous designer collaborations over the last 8 months.
Like there's a lot of stuff i like but realistically won't get to wear for a long time I'm definitely not gonna impulse-buy just for the sake of it with these price tags - especially since it being online only it'll be very hard to tell how this stuff fits. A mess.
If it's online only then I think it might be a sign that the collection runs true to size. Processing returns is costly.
By not allowing returns in store they are encouraging flippers in my view. It may not even be lawful in some countries. And it's not consumer friendly - shoppers will have to wait weeks to be refunded especially due to covid.
2/3 of the collection is sold out 15 minutes after it went online. It's would out before I have the chance to select the size. They only have tie, socks and basic sweaters left. Pieces that too basic that I don't want to pay for that price for H&M.
I'm actually surprise because Simone is not really a "hype" designer. I thought it's gonna be another Vampire Wife or Pringle of Scotland collab because those pieces still available for weeks after the release day.
Yep, 100%. I'm an equity research analyst covering the retail sector and can confirm. The pringle of scotland stuff was all really cheaply made recycled acrylic blend items and if you look at the press release didn't even use a lot of Pringle intellectual property if any (patterns etc). It was mostly "designed" by H&M. Same with H&M's "collaboration" with Kangol.
Rocha's items are more costly to produce - therfore H&M doesn't want to sell many. It's just for hype and advertising and to get H&M's name out there.
Look at H&M's financial presentations on their website. Their bread and butter is the cheap stuff. That's what they make money on.
