Smells Like Grunge Again

No Grunge is quite dead. Thats like saying disco is due for a comeback. Not gonna happen.

Well if 80's can make a come-back, and it very much has to a lesser degree then I believe grunge can come back as well - to a lesser degree.
Of course it'll be re-interpreted and I believe it's already started in a slightly different form under the "bobo chic" moniker (sp?).
Let's face it they're pretty similar trends. :D

sl*tty little babydoll dresses and Doc Martins are the s**t.

I love this :D

I just noticed that I've been wearing things pretty grunge lately ^_^

Great thread! I guess I've been "grunge" the last 15 years..Maybe I'm the only one that still goes crazy for Alice in Chains, Mudhoney and Soundgaden..Does anyone remeber the japanese girlband called the Shonen Knife? They were on Subpop and can be considerated kitch-grunge..maybe..now I'll try to find a pic..

Kitsch was referring to their lyrics...about icecream, barbiedolls and that kind of things..whatever..

I dont like grunge, and I do hope that it doesnt come back... I sold my 4 pairs of Dr Martins!

yes...Tmsta is right, that boho and grunge are like siblings!...hmmm...that may explain why I dont like that boho either.

In some ways here, the grunge style never died; In Seattle, people still dress bad (not too many flannel shirts wearers left, though) and wear black clunky boots, but it's more about not really caring about how you're dressed;

But then again, I can say grunge has evolved, as implied in previous posts. To me, grunge was like the anti-trend. Whatever opposite the trend is now.

Or do you think it goes with the music scene, which has changed a lot since Nirvana days?

I hope grunge doesnt come back, its just an excuse to not get dressed and do your hair.

And what about all theese "out-of-bed" hairstyling products? Grunge is already back, nothin to do about it...

^^ I'll say that the alternative music scene hasnt changed that much (I saw the Melvins live some month ago and they, the fathers of grungemusic hasnt changed at all), is just that you don't see it on MTV anymore..

I'm glad you agree! :D But I did mean "bobo", not boho. :flower:

BTW, was it Shonen Knife that was on Kill Bill or another all girl Japanese band? They were great! Now that I think about it I'm pretty sure it was another band but the name is on the tip of my tongue! I can't remember it!

I miss the 90s...my style is a modernized grunge/boho look, sans doc martens and all that other bullsh*t for the most part i dig grunge on men, the ripped jeans and long hair.
i was getting sick of dork-o metros with all their wax and prettiness

screw nirvana

Grunge trends

Mary_Kate_Olsen0007-MThomas.jpg

Teen actress MARY-KATE OLSEN has been declared a fashion icon by the NEW YORK TIMES for the "homeless" look she's adopted since becoming a university student.

The 18-year-old entrepreneur, twin sister of ASHLEY OLSEN, has attracted much attention for her less than clean-cut wardrobe since moving from Los Angeles to attend New York University last year (04).

And her image makeover, attacked by a number of fashion critics, has earned her a special nod.

Stylist KAREN BERENSON says, "The Olsens are the real thing. (Mary-Kate) makes skinny girls in baggy clothes look cool."

I quite like the look...from designer to rags...
