So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

guys i have a question....how much money does an agency take from a model's paycheck? i heard that in paris they take up to 70% and that in ny they take less?

Depends which country and agency you are in:

London: 20%
New York: 20%
Asia: 30 - 40%

Hey guys! Ok, so I still haven't heard back from Mode or Lizbell but my meeting with Richard's is Wednesday. They told me to wear leggings, so that they can take measurements and to keep my hair natural and my face free of makeup. They also told me to bring a few pictures with me. What else should I bring? And what should I expect once I'm there? What questions should I ask them?

^ I might bring heels if they want you to walk? :flower: If you are still in school, I'd ask about how modeling is going to work out in terms of your schoolwork.

Yeah, so I resent my pictures yesterday because I was told that all of the servers were down the weekend I sent them...I'll see if anything happens, but I should probably wait a few years cause I'm only 14... :unsure: But I did grow a little bit :woot:

^ the age comment reminded me of a video profile of caroline trentini (she started when she was fourteen), she was asked to give some advice and she said not to start too young like she did, maybe wait until sixteen...if you want to take her advice ;)

I started modeling when I was 14...Shy and lacking confidence, I never really went anywhere. Now Im 23 and I really want to get back into it, Im much more confident and professional now. The thing is I would have to loose 4 inches off my hips and really tone up. It could take some time and much more than the average working womans drive at the gym, to even start seeing agencies. Does anyone know, is there even point in trying to start when Im almost 24??

I'm not sure how to word this, but let me try;

I am very interested in modelling/becoming a model. However, at the moment I am financially stuck where I am, which is an extremely small town with no agencies that I know of.

In my position what would happen if I were to send poloroids to agencies? I ask this because obviously to be working with an agency, you must be in the same general area as the agency itself (if this is wrong, please feel free to correct me).

If you get signed you will need to be available for castings. You could start out in a secondary market like Chicago or if they think you could make it big,they will front you the money to go to NY to meet with the bigger clients. Keep in mind that every expense the agency fronts you will be deducted from your first check. If you are not willing or financially able to travel to meet with an agency and spend some time for castings or go sees it's not going to work.

i think tyra is a d cup..and there's probably plus sized models with d cups..and playboy models of course.

Ok so I met with Richard's yesterday. He didn't seem so interested. I kept getting mixed messages. He said he wasn't sure about the photos that I brought (well they were kind of crappy; taken by me with a tripod and harsh flash because I don't have a nice new camera). He then took some pictures and said they looked better and that I take direction well. He said he would get someone else to look and see if they can see something he is missing (ouch!). What else umm... ok, he said my measurements were perfect but said I was a bit skinny just moments before o.O Although I don't think I'm too thin at all (I'm built more like Heather Marks than Hana). Maybe I'm just not what Vancouver in general is looking for. If this post sounds confusing it's because I am very very confused haha.
