So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

If you have to pay to get your photos seen, then no. Sending in photos or walking into an agency doesnt cost money, but putting them up onto a site that probaly doesnt have any decent people looking at does.

will agencies even see you if you jsut walk in?
i figured they would hate that.

Most agencies have open calls when you can walk in and see them ^_^

except marilyn.. i wan tot apply there in the next month--right now i am working on a decent set of polaroids

i just measured myself because i havent in a few weeks and im 30.5-25-33 (5'8 and about 100 lbs) i know this is way off from supermodels so are my measurements going to stop me from modeling? should i change anything?

also i sent out pictures to 3 different agencies about a month ago. 2 were local and the other was vision. i heard back from one within the next few days and im on file with them. but i havent heard anything from the other 2. i also met with elite at the h&m model search and they seemed interested. even one of the bookers asked if i modeled with elite before because i looked familiar. (which i dont know is a good or bad thing?) i have a lot of experience with modeling but im waiting for an agency. i know i have something unique (im a cross between a lily cole--red hair and a vlada) sometimes i feel like my red hair can be a set back but also could be a gain. any opinions? (also im from the minneapolis area so does anyone have any good tips/advice on top agencies?) thanks!

i'm only 5'6" but i've been told that i have a great face and a unique look. do you think agencies would take me at my height? (i'm also very VERY skinny, which makes me look taller than i am)

If you've got the look - go for it :)

Ok, I've been thrown for another loop. Corey from Next Models called and said he would like to talk with me or my parents and he left his contact info. Great, but the weird thing is, I thought I already submitted my photos and he said I was "beautiful but not what they were looking for at the moment". Did he just forget or change his mind? Anyways, I'm sure that if I get to meet him my 2nd interview will go much better than the one I had with Richard's (I was way too nervous and kind of spacey because I was recovering from a bad cold). Just when I thought I should just concentrate my efforts on something else, modeling comes back! Haha. Oh dearie.

Thanks! Ok, my appoinment has been set for tomorrow! It looks like another sleepless night... haha

nooo you must sleep or you'll look tired when you go see them.

good luck!

Thanks everyone! Speaking of looking tired, I have dark circles under my eyes that are sort of genetic. They're not too bad, so I'm hoping this won't be a problem. I usually just wear a bit of concealer for the eyes anyways. They're never puffy or anything. Umm... Would it be pointless to ask how I may perhaps fade the darkness even though it seems to be genetic?

Look at Vlada. I don't think it will be a big problem :)
Good luck!

If Ana B. can get away with it ..you should be ok.

I was definitely thinking of Vlada but Ana B. never came to mind. I guess it's because I've only seen her in photoshopped editorials. Thanks guys! Although Vlada has such gorgeous eyes to compensate for the dark circles. They are really striking. I guess I'm just bitter because both my parents have green eyes and I get brown instead. But hey, at least they're big :)

^ brown eyes suck...i have them too
mine only look interesting when someone shines a light into them & blinds me :p
