So ... Your Child is A Model ... Now What? Model Mom Support Thread.

It's not that whether the girl is capable of navigating a foreign city on her own. There are certain situations that just do not arise if the mother is in town with the young girl. (Yes, some 16 year olds really would prefer not to be chaperoned. Yet, those may be the ones who need it.)

Also, it is very hard for a young girl to refuse to pose in a particularly hazardous situation (I am thinking of Janz's story of Sessilee on the ice floe, but there are lots of examples), or to stop a makeup artist from damaging her hair. If she knows her mother is in town to back her up, it is a bit easier to protect herself.

The agent just goes on to the next girl if a girl gets messed up.

Well the day came this past week.... she called it quits. Went in to the agency and explained why she was leaving to go to college in the fall. She needs a few months to regroup at home with family & friends, find a part time "regular" job and be a real girl again. It was a wonderful ride but the ride is over for her. All I can say is I'm glad it's on her terms.

A window of opportunity opens for some girls who want to model and each person needs to decide how much of their time they are willing to give up to see if they can make a go of it in the fashion world. For some it's a wild ride right from the beginning but for most it's an up and down kind of roller coaster existence and there comes a moment when you realize it's time to move on. You'll never forget all the places you went and all of the unbelievable things you experienced but reality sets in and most girls know when it's time to pack it in if they want any kind of a future at all....and you will always be amazed at the fact that you were once a part of all that....it's all a fantasy world and it's good to check out before the ride is up. The best of luck to you both!:lucky:

Thanks model_mom,
Like I've told you before I appreciate your support. It has been an unbelievable 4 years but now it's time to move on. I wish all the girls & their mothers all the best as they make the choice to sign on with a modeling agency. It truly is an experience that has changed our life forever, but one that we have to move on from now. It is a fantasy world, but one that sometimes is too real! Good luck and thanks to you all!

The Imagist:
As far as further trends, Sterling highlights "a sudden deluge of 15-and-unders" this season — "Is it me or did the average age of the current crop of Newcomers drop precipitously this season?" — pinpointing Monica "Jac" Jagaciak (born in 1994) in New York, 14-year-old Auguste Tomasuite (aka Auguste Abeliunaite) in Milan, plus 16-year-old Rose Cordero and 16-year-old Addison Gill in Paris. But because of their ages, "those break out girls found their Paris bookings severely curtailed": models in Paris under 16 are not allowed to work on Sunday or do anything past 8 PM on weekdays. Auguste didn't even attend Paris because of her age, and Rose saw the dissolution of a Givenchy exclusive because the show was on Sunday.
Also, Addison Gill's mother agent had her age as 14 in October, which was then changed when she won the V contest.
