Style.com Top 10 F/W 09 Collections

Sometimes I feel like Style get paid to say nice things about designers/stars. Reminds me of when Blake Lively was on their Top 10 Best Dressed at the Golden Globes because Lively was styled by Vogue...oh and Jessica Biel at the Oscars, too. *shudder*

Umm..well, besides the fact that everyone has their own favs anyway -so, no I'm not saying this because they haven't listed my personal top-collections, but: that list is quite questionable for me aswell

Keep in mind, this is the Style.com list after all...so I went in knowing that there would be a mention of Givenchy, Prada, MJ, and Balenciaga. I am pleased to see Erdem though...

Agreewith everything here :flower: Not my top 10 but style.com know what they're looking for/talking about more than me

I think its much much better than the usual list they do, of course i dont agree with it all, i wouldnt put Balenciaga on first spot!

this list is always strange but i have to say i am over the moon they listed ERDEM this time around!
his work is totally underrated! yay to you ERDEM

I'm a bit irritated over balenciaga's top spot.
It's alphabetical. :ninja:

I don't think the list is too bad, there's a few designers that should be there, but we've already covered them here. But I still hate Jacobs' collection.

Let's be realistic about Galliano, it was a good show, not a good collection.

lol oh...........ummmmm..............errr....................hmmmmmm...................ok............NO.

Firstly this is more of a top 5 since Balenciaga, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Prada and Dries Van Noten are always on the the list.
I dont like ANY of those collections except Lanvin (which was probably Paris' best) and maybe Bottega Veneta. The others stunk.
I cried over Givenchy and Balenciaga for days, theyre usually so revolutionary.

I have to agree, but not completely. I think that what made me love it was the atmosphere... Well, the presentation and the theme of the collection. But the final gowns were indeed good, even though they were not the biggest part of it.

^galliano's gowns were works of art. they were the season's highlight to me.
frankly, this list sucks.

I'm ok with 7/10 of list.

Balenciaga should not be there. It was a lame, heavy handed, dated show. It was a total step backwards for Nicholas who has done nothing but take giant strides forwards over the past 6 years or so.

Erdem should not be there. It was a nice show...but I just cannot fathom why it would be the top ten of the season. If any London designer should have been on this list, it should have been Kane, who delivered a beautiful, poetic, realistic collection. Erdem was just more 'defiant-glamour' party dresses, with a suspiciously heavy Christian Lacroix undecurrent.

Marc Jacobs should not have been on the list. I know it's required that style.com put a Jacobs collection on their list, but this time it was totally undeserved. For me, Top 10 Collections should stand alone and above the trends of the season...they say something different from everybody else. So in a season where almost every designer was talking about the 80's, Marc's show really didn't feel that special.

Style for me is a good source of pictures and some news and that's it. I don't pay any attention to anything else there lol

Prada should not be anywhere near that list. I'm not surprised though...

I don't see how Givenchy was not "revolutionary" this season, I think more than just the exterior and split image of the clothing itself was prevalent... the psychology and message behind the collection was more of a quiet and unassuming sense of being revolutionary, in my opinion...

I thought Marc's show was really special, the clothes being another matter

^ Oh Im not saying that Givenchy was bad this season, it was still good. But Tisci is usually much more creative with his ideas. His themes are usually much more graphic and intense like S/S 09 and F/W 08/09

I'm glad there's some diversity in the list. It's usually the same old designers, I agree with SGaspar, I really don't care who is on their list because it's nothing new.
I don't get Erdem or Donna Karan though... there were many much better shows in London and Milan and Paris.
I'm sad that Balenciaga wasn't futuristic this season (let's just hope it was a glitch) but I think it deserved to be there. It was really French and they hadn't done draping until now so it was still something new for Balenciaga. But I wan't next Spring to be super futuristic now.
