The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #6

^ wow ... an extremely minimal delivery from the Outnet! :o Seems like an unusual thing to steal since the fit is so specific ... unless the thief was planning to resell it. Boggles the mind ...

I was baffeled that someone wanted it too. Such an odd thing to steal. It wasn't very expensive either, so the I wouldn't think resale value would be worth the risk either. My initial thought was that things got a bit hectic during the clearance sale and that they had simply forgotten to include it, but the seal inside was broken (not by me) and it has obviously been opened before...

Eizhowa: that is so weird about the bra. I am looking forward to hearing if there is any logical explanation.

The dress IS very flattering. Seems like the kind of dress that you could wear for any occasion and with all sorts of shoes, jackets, bags etc. Also, although I just started studying, I am trying to buy clothes that will fit my future work life. I do have a lot of jersey items that I do not see working there, but this dress definetely does. The boots as well. I will go try the on today and perhaps buy them. I am still not sure of what size to get. I have the short ones in my usual size (36) but they are really large in the sizing and fits more like a size 37. I like them loose though. I am a bit unsure if I would like that for the tall ones. I think the smaller size might be better since I think a long boot should have a more tight fit. Not sure if that makes any sense.

You have been really good this season. Seems like you got a lot of good items and did not make a lot of mistakes. How are you liking your bag? Also I would like to see that dress. It is nice to rediscover things like that.

Thank you:)

I understand what you are saying about the boots. The reason I am not considering the Tall acne boots is because I want something very narrow and fitted. I think I have shorter legs than you, so a tight fit is very important for me to elongate my legs.

I just recieved my baggu bag today actually. A friend picked it up in the US and saved me about 70-80 usd. I think it is very beautiful, and I am already dreaming about a larger one in tan for summer:blush: I think it is very practical, because it is a shopping bag, just in leather. I can roll it up and put it in my pocket:D

I've attached a picture of the dress, but it looks very different on, I think. The skirt is very fitted up to the waist, and then the top is very big and flowy. The zipper only goes to the waist at the back, so it is closed by a single button at the nape of the neck, so it is almost open at the back.

It is really wrinkled in the pictures. Sorry:/ I am tired of ironing it... I have done it so many times the past feew weeks:rolleyes:

Serendipitous and funny at the end w/ the double entendre...anyway, I was just looking at this wallet in different colors. In theory I really like the way the inside is laid out w/ the simple pocket in the middle. How are you finding the wallet now that you've received it?

It's better than I expected actually. I keep my cash in the fold in the middle and some cards on both sides. I don't carry much cards with me, that helps.

I finally found some grey jeans that I like wich I've been hunting for ages. And now it feels like I have everything I want and need for now, that's a first for me. I actually look forward to trying new combinations and wearing things out. ^_^
An early sprien-clean in my wardrobe wouldn't hurt though, I have some thing that just don't get any wears or are too old.

edit: I forgot that I also got a great navy wool sweater (with thin vertical stripes) and a navy cardigan (without buttons or fastening, looks very clean) both from the COS-sale. And new glasses, tortoise and a bigger frame then I have at the moment.
Maybe it's a good thing I finally feel like I have everything.. (for now) :innocent:

I love the bag. The quality seems very good. Eizhowa knows about my coat problem. Im still in need of a coat and found this one online from zara. I just want a simple, black woolen coat. What do you think, you can be honest

zara.com

^To judge a Zara coat I think we also need to know the fabric content + you should really check it out in real life, which I think you know by now:P I like the cut and I think the length would be great on you (since you are tall), but I would be hesitant about the 25% of polyamide it contains (I checked their site). Unfortunately, I don't think Zara offers any solid wool coats... My own coat contains 6% nylon I think, and I think that is what makes it as stretchy as it is (it means I can lift my arms over my head even in thick woolen sweaters, which I am grateful for:D). The nylon has a function (I think) and that meant I could justify to myself buying a wool coat with only 94% wool. If it contained a significant amount of synthetics, I would be very hesitant to buy it. The 25% don't really add anything to the coat, except to bring the price down maybe, or to give it a sheen that makes it look new and smooth in the store. If the fabric will wear well I do not know. Synthetics won't keep you as warm though.

Thanks for the info about the fabrics. I didn't know that. So my search will go on haha.

@Trenchcoat: I think Eizhowa provided some really good thought regarding the coat. Not sure if it would be a problem for you, but I would be bothered by the fact that it is so "open". I would freeze so much even if I was wearing a scarf.

@Eizhowa: Gorgeous - both the bag and the dress! Any news on your Outnet delivery?

Actually the thing about the boots is not about the look but the comfort. I can understand why you would like something more narrow and I think the boots you have been looking at has all been gorgeous. I myself just feel silly in ALL other tall boots besides from these. It is just not for me.

I went to the store yesterday and tried both sizes and ended up with the size 35. The just had a better fit and I now they will expand insanely much since the short ones did so.

Afterwards I had some time to kill and my favourite jewelry store (Zarah Voigt) was just across the street so I went in to have a look. They had a sale going on, and a ring-set that I had on my christmas wishlist but did not get were marked down, so I got that and another ring for a total of 100 DKK (less than 20 dollars). Nomally I would have cost a total of 1100 DKK. Quite happy with that since I find that jewelry is a really nice way to update my look but I am very picky.

Also, my sweater hopefully will be arriving today. Our postal service is not really all that dependable.

I believe I have some really nice things that have a significant percentage polyamide ... I believe what it does is provide strength. I think the coat is really pretty, but I would wonder what it will look like after it's cleaned and the factory finish is gone. A coat I think is really worth investing in. Trenchcoat, you may want to look & see what you might be able to get at a consignment shop if your budget is fixed at a Zara level ...

I agree about the coat being too open for freezing weather. 25 % of synthetic would not be as problematic as the fact Zara coats are so unbearably thin. Even 100 % wool ones (I spottes a few in recent years) are not warm enough imo.
I recommend Mango coats very much (and they currently have a 50 % off sale on everything going on ). I am wearing mine for a third year now and it is in a very good condition. Keep in mind I am wearing it aprox. 5 months per year.
I am thinking of getting a longer one (under the knees) next year or so. Mostly because I am loving the length of my trench coat so much, I find it very elegant. It will keep me warmer too, which is a big plus for me, as I am constantly freezing even in the mild weather we are having right now.

Betina, really love your dress! And do you have any pictures of the rings? I am currently very into all sorts of jewelry. I got plenty of it in December though, except from the pearl earrings I got last all are in the next thread.
The sales are not very tempting to me, because I already got everything from my FW list, except from the silk shirt. :woot: I ordered just the COS high neck flared top on sales, because I had to get rid of the old one. I am counting it as a basic though.
I was thinking of getting a dress, appropriate for the graduation ceremony which will finally going to happen in a couple of weeks, but the one I wanted is sold out in my size.
Maybe I will find another one or more likely just wear a dress I already have in my closet. The black Lanvin x H&M one, if you remember.

Well the coat isnt that cheap imo (120 euros). Thank for the Mango tip. To be honest I didnt like any of their coats of this season. But I did find this coat only on the site not in stores. Has anyone seen this coat in real life already and can give me opinion about it. It looks very feminine on the picture. this one is 140 euros

@Trenchcoat: have you tried looking at some coats from more expensive brands but on sale? Now is the time that you would be able to make a real bargain.

@Jina: Thank you! I really see it working for almost everything and I am planning on wearing it for both my project-presentation, a coffee date next week and my father's wife's work anniversary (not sure whatever that might be called in proper english).

The ring I got from my mother for christmas I have pinned to my wardrobe board on pinterest. I will pin the other ones later, but for now here they are.

I don't even think I would look for another dress if I were to be in your position. The Lanvin one is so pretty. What dress were you planning on getting though?

I am usually not tempted by the sales neither, but this time a lot of things I had on my list anyway got marked down, so really I have just gotten stuff from my over-all wishlist and the sweater, which were on my wishlist for next winter anyway. And then there was the dress that just felt right.

^The mango coat has the same fabric composition as the Zara coat. Out of the two, I preferred the Zara one.

I know 120-140 doesn't feel like a small amount of money, but coats require a lot more material and work than many other items. While 140 Euro might buy you a good shirt, I think a stylish coat of high quality will set you back more, unless you can find one heavily discounted.

Tata: What kind of garments do you own that contain polyamide? I am curious. I definitly believe synthetics can make fabrics more durable (I think the uniforms we can order through work have a lot of synthetics to make them durable), but I think some items are better without them - like a classic winter coat. I tried googeling the advantages of polyamide and wool blends, but I couldn't find anything. I did however find some articles that described the benefits of nylon and wool blends though:) I also doubt that Zara (who emphasis is on fashion, not quality) have added polyamide to make the coats better quality... Maybe I am to sceptical of Zara, who knows...:innocent:

Betina: I love the Bjorg ring! Bjorg makes so much beautiful:heart: I have been drooling over the gold anatomical heart for years...

@trenchcoat
i don't know about mango coats,
but like betina said, maybe try more expensive brands and their sale
for example french connection coats are pretty good quality, have classic cuts and hold up very well, at least the one i have
right now there is a sale up to 70%, maybe you'll find one there

Thank you so much for explaining me more about fabrics! Really! Im a complete noob. I used to buy things because they looked good, but the be honest I didn't think a lot of the fabrics. I tried to follow your advice and look for better quality coats. This is a coat from the brand Milo. It's a brand specialized in female coats and the coats are handmade. Most of the fabrics are from Italy. What do you think? Im looking for a long black coat but one that doenst look to much 'granny' if you know what i mean
:P

^Do you know the fabric content? I can't find it on the site:( Even italians can make Polyamide:P

The cut is very classic. If you have seen "last Night" with Keira Knightley, she wears one just like it, but in camel. It looked very chic on her. You could google it ("keira knightley last night camel coat") if you want to see how it looks worn on the street:flower:

Yes there is 20% polyamide and 80% wool. I really like Keira coat. I think I will try the coat out in the store and see how it looks like on me.

eizhowa, I'm thinking of my Lanvin skirt ... will try to remember to check the label when I'm at home.

Eizhowa: What a weird story about the bra… The bag is gorgeous!

Betinapple: Nice rings! I love how your style is evolving… Becoming more contemporary recently, and I think it's great. Even if I love a bit of vintage, too. Gives me the confidence that sometimes it's fine when your style changes a bit… ;-)

Me: No more sales shopping for me. I think I picked some nice stuff and now it's time to look forward to spring / summer. The good thing about the warmer months is that things in general are a bit less expensive… Winter coats and boots are always such a pain to buy because good quality really costs a lot. But it's so much easier to find nice tees, summer dresses and sandals at reasonal prices!

So I attempted to make a first list:
- A pair of glamorous but super comfortable sneakers. I'm thinking of a blue pair of Lanvin leather sneakers.
- Ballerinas. Always need a pair, my best shoes in summer. Also thinking about Lanvin…
- A pair of heeled sandals. More of a leisure time pair than something fancy. Should be comfortable yet nice with a summer dress.
- A skirt. For a change. I think that's been on my list last s/s season, we'll see if I'll buy one this year.
- Two dresses, one of it with long sleeves. I always try to keep my dresses wardrobe up to date. I love nothing as much as a good dress.
- Two tops. One short sleeved, one long sleeved. Always need a bit of change in my tops wardrobe.
- One piece of jewelry

- And maybe, not really urgently but in case something good turns up: a new bag…

That would make 9 pieces total. That should be fine with my 1 piece per month and additional 2-3 pieces during sales strategy.

Red: Thank you. I really love my more contemporary style as well. Espcecially since it has given me the ability to get along just fine with a smaller wardrobe. You are perfectly right about winter being more expensive than summer. Thank you for reminding me. I feel like I have been splurging a bit too much later, but good quality footwear, knitwear and coats cost.

Nice list of yours. What kind of bag are you looking for, if anything specific?

So.. I could really use your opinion on something. I recieved my sweater yesterday and I really like it, but I am not sure wether to keep it. The thing is, that it is let fitted than expected. The cut is somewhat boxy. It is not a problem in regards of how it looks, cause I think it suits me very nicely, but I am used to wearing more fitted and delicate sweaters. This is thick and more loose-fitted. It looks perfect with my black jeans, a jersey mini skirt and I think I could wear it layered over one of my black dresses and with my black full skirt as well maybe. But I am not sure with the rest of my bottoms. I have a feeling that the problem is mostly in my head since I ususally do fitted tops and more volumious skirts and not the other way around. I would have taken a picture for you to see, but the sun seems to have vanished in Denmark.

^I guess it could be nice to have more silhouettes to play with. Do you feel good in this silhouette? If it feels wrong, then it probably won't get worn a lot.

I wouldn't think less of you because of a poorly lit picture, Betina. And the sun might have gone away for a few months... I can't remember when I last saw it to be honest. It was definitly out around November 20st last year... I know I was still in ballet flats;)

--

I am at a point where I am so bored with my wardrobe. Most of my sweaters and jeans are too big, so I am rotating a fairly small number of items right now. I really really want some new, more exiting sweaters in my wardrobe. I am flirting with the idea of this Acne sweater, but I am not sure how it would look on my small frame... I think it will go great with my not-yet-found-and-puchased tall leather boots and not-yet-found-and-puchased grey jeans:innocent::cool:

It is pure wool and I really like the length and the crazy sleeves. The breaking point might be the fact that it is navy, not black... not that I can tell by the pictures... hmmm... The price 350usd/2200NOK might also be a breaking point:innocent: We'll see...

If I can't find anything good in London I'll probably order it while there:) Free postage and returns:)

I am also craving some new gold jewlery... I have retired my grandmothers ring (rose gold ring from the 1940s with a blue stone) that I used to wear every day. I almost lost it twice. It was found weeks later by a colleague, so now I never wear during the week.... I am terrified of loosing it again. The only reason I didn't cry when I lost it was because I refused to believe it was gone...-_- And I really need some rings/bracelets to beautify my hands, because they are covered in cuts made by my overly playful and very strong kitten... I have some gold to melt, but I have no idea what to make with it.... * goes to thinking box *

I've also been trying to make my wishlist for the rest of the winter (january through april in other words). The only thing I know I want is a pair of black boots:heart: Otherwise I want a new trench maybe, some new jeans (that I don't count as an item out of the 4-5), some new sweaters... The rest is more fussy. I'll see what I come across:wink:

The bra mystery: I haven't heard back from them yet. They said it could take up to 3 weeks, so they should get back to me today...:judge:

Trenchcoat:
Did you recieve the camel jacket yet? How are you liking it? (not sure if you posted it in this thread or not)

Ta-ta: Thanks for the info! I really wish I knew more about why they mix polyamide and wool so much. I also wonder if Lanvin and Zara do it for the same reason. I assume Lanvin does it because it adds to the garment, but when I think about Zara and synthetics, I don't naturally think they mix them because they want the items to be of a higher quality. I might be prejudiced at this point however:innocent:
