The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #6

I think the best idea is to invest in a smaller, more classic bag and spend less money on a school bag. Thats what I have done. I have a Balenicaga that is too small to carry school books and a large no-brand leather tote for school. When you carry around a bag full of books, it gets very damaged very quickly in my experience. I think your designer bag will last longer if you use it for days/occations when you don't need to bring books etc. Also, smaller bags tend to be more classic. How big is your Zara bag? Could it function as your school bag? I think it would look nice for everyday occations like school.

elle s'ennuie: In my recent experience, all knits are cut very big:rolleye: Size charts are no help anymore.

Ta-ta: I hope you get a camera for christmas:D I really want to see what the jacket looks like in real life (and that trench of yours;))

I will buy the zara bag as a small bag and as a neat bag. I think is looks classic. I won't use it for schoolbooks. I want to buy a big leather bag for school.

Trenchcoat, I like the bag too, and I'd say it goes well with the items you've combined it with. Unfortunately, I have no experience with Hilfiger clothes.

eizhowa, the colours were what made me so attracted to those Wrap London sweaters! I need those muted, subdued sorts of colours near my face, bright-coloured tops can easily make me look like death warmed over. :ermm: Be warned though that their sizing runs somewhat large, in case anyone reading this is thinking of ordering. :flower:

ta-ta, glad to hear the jacket is a winner. :woot:

Thanks  Haven't had a chance to wear it yet, but perhaps colder weather is on its way :santa:

Bags: I have to disaggree. I think, that if you invest in a good quality, sturdy leather bag, it will hold up just fine despite carrying books and a laptop. I would go for a thick leather quality though. I use my expensive bags for school, and they all look just fine. Also I prefer splurging here and not on smaller bags, since the bags for school use is what I use the most. I rarely ever use the smaller ones.

... aaand hello. I finally finished my exam, so I am hoping I will get to be a bit more active on this board from now on :)

I have the same opinion as you do. For school I want a bigger good leather bag. And I wear small bags when hanging out with friends or shopping. It doesn't have to be of super quality. As long as its pretty.

I'm thinking about switching from contacts to glasses. But one of the reasons I'm still doubting is that I don't think I can wear whatever I like when wearing glasses. Some things just seem to work better with contacts, I think it's mostly in my head but still..

And I finally found some great dress shoes, a nice navy pair by Hugo Boss (can't find any pics online for some reason).

Merry christmas everyone and don't forget the 5 piece french feeling during the sales haha

I've been wearing glasses since I was 6 and cannot wear contacts (or leave my glasses behind, as I have a -9,25 prescription). The only things I can't wear are hats and headbands, and some glasses made my hair look funny. I also have problems with my fringe getting too long (a problem other people with glasses and such haircuts share, as I recently discussed with my co-worker...). Other than that, everything is fine.

I've been shopping quite a bit lately, more than what is normal for me, but it is out of necessity, really. When I started doing this, I didn't go out every day - so I could do with owning less clothing. I also didn't have a job, and even though it is not really necessary, I like dressing it up a little (dress for the job you want, they say  ). It has also been raining a lot, which delays laundry.

Hope everyone is having great holidays :flower:

I wear glasses and I think I look better with than without. I used to wear contact lenses years ago, but they were tiring on my eyes.

There's a pair of cashmere loungewear pants I'm keeping my eye on for the sales... :ninja:

Hope you are having nice holidays - the ones who do have some! We were all sick during Xmas, so I had time to enjoy the NAP sales… If I don't buy anything else in january, I can justify my buys as my usual one item per month and 2-3 additional items during the sales…

I noticed I only bought grey, black and olive this season. That's cool with me. I don't think my tastes is changing fundamentally, I just think I was in need of some neutrals.

Here are my purchases:

Marni Alpaca and wool blend sweater (wearing it right now, loving it):

Chinti and Parker cashmere sweater (very comfortable):

Esquivel brogues (I just love these for walking):

Delpozo Little Black Dress (I was eyeing at this all season and hoped it would make it to the sales. So glad it did!):

Btw: I've seen some great pieces in yellow for the new season… I think I'm back to colorful soon

Did some shopping and purchased shoes from the sale: Gucci sandals for special occasions and some boots for work. Love my sandals, the gold looks marvelous.
I'm eyeing some other items, but waiting for the price to drop futher. ^_^

I really wanted a burgundy bag and now I found this one from zara. It's burgundy and darkgrey. So much easier to combine. I've made some selections with items of my winter wardrobe. What do you think?

Ooh this is relevant for me--so thanks for posting--I just got a medium burgundy/dark purple-red/more-red-than-eggplant jas mb handbag (mine is a bit more purple than brown so I've been styling it w/ an already favorite jewel-toned green sweater, greys, blacks, and whites...but i didn't think of khaki yet--and i think investing in a good timeless leather bag is a good idea)... anyway, feedback: i think it def works and that medium shade of burgundy is perfect b/c it almost can run as a neutral since it's so subdued. don't know abt materials of the bag but i do like the general shape and style of it. :) hopefully you're getting a lot of use out of it.

I treat all my clothes the same, no ' nice-clothing' (well, my suit maybe but that has more to do with occasions to wear it) for me.

Yesterday I finally bought a new wallet. A tiny green leather one from Comme des Garçons. I was doubting between this one and the bigger version and ended up choosing the smaller one because the bigger one just seemed a bit too big. Hope I won't regret it though, because this one doesn't have that much room.

Guess I'll be having a minimalist wallet (al least the inside ).

Serendipitous and funny at the end w/ the double entendre...anyway, I was just looking at this wallet in different colors. In theory I really like the way the inside is laid out w/ the simple pocket in the middle. How are you finding the wallet now that you've received it?

Just a little summary of my shopping experience

- Do you remember the burgundy bag that I posted here from zara. It's soooo ugly in real. The colours, quality and everything was so bad. Now I'm just looking for a small black one of real leather
- I'm still searching for boots and was thinking on buying these from tommy

tommy.com
- I'm still searching for a good black coat but I don't like anything that I'm seeing.
- Do you remember the 100% cashmere sweater that I've bought (see pinterest). They are so good and very affordable.

Things that I still need to purchase:
- maroon jumper
- black pantalon
- black coat
- white loose blouse
- leather black bag

Hello ladies (and gents). Long time no see. My exam really got the best of me during December, but now I am back. I have read everything - and probably forgot a lot.

I did not buy anything during a December (besides from a H&M skirt that I ended up returning). I had a comeback during the past few days though.

First I ordered a sweater that I had been eyeing that finally got marked down. Today I went sales-shopping with a friend. Not planning to buy anything since I rarely ever find anything, but I found the perfect LBD from Tiger of Sweden. It is everything I wanted and just right for both everyday wear and a night out. A lot of my LBDs has been in thin jersey. I find this a bit more ... mature.

Also I think I might be buying the tall ACNE pistol boots soon. And then I should be done - very done - for this season. I have spent a lot of more money than a planned on, but none I did not have, and I got a lot of good things.

@RedandNavy: That dress is divine. Good thing it is sold out in my size ;) I also really like the sweaters. I do not think there is anything wrong with "straying" a bit from your usual style.

@Glasses:
I do not feel like my glasses limits my choices in regards of clothing. I have two different pairs - one brown, one black. I do have the same problem as Barbaraa though - that it is a problem when I need to cut my bangs. Which seems to be ... always.

Betina: Congratulation on finding your LBD! If only I could be so lucky:P It looks like a really flattering cut. Also, I can't wait to see your future Acne boots! I am also looking for tall boots.

I got through the holiday seasons by pulling out an old, but unused, wine/burgundy silk dress that fit me for the first time since I bought it in 2009...-_-

I didn't buy anthing in December either. I ordered a bra from the Outnet in the clearance sales, but when the package arrived it was empty... I've spent my christmas bringing the box with me everywhere so that I could take pictures of it and email theoutnet. It appears to have been opened before I got it. I am really curious to see if the Outnet find anything in their "investigations". I was not even angry when I discovered it, just really really curious...

Since August I have bought:
  1. Black Coat
  2. Wool Scarf
  3. Baggu bag
  4. Cashmere sweater
  5. Noa Noa skirt (I have not removed the belt-loops yet)
I feel like I have been very good this season, but who knows what will happen next week when I go to London:innocent:

I also had a look at my purchases over the last year and I have observed that most of the mistakes were inexpensive items or non-returnable ones... Hopefully I have learned my lesson:)

Trenchcoat: It is good to see that you are not setteling for second best. I know it can be exhausting at times, but I really think it will pay off in the end:flower:

^ wow ... an extremely minimal delivery from the Outnet! :o Seems like an unusual thing to steal since the fit is so specific ... unless the thief was planning to resell it. Boggles the mind ...

Eizhowa: that is so weird about the bra. I am looking forward to hearing if there is any logical explanation.

The dress IS very flattering. Seems like the kind of dress that you could wear for any occasion and with all sorts of shoes, jackets, bags etc. Also, although I just started studying, I am trying to buy clothes that will fit my future work life. I do have a lot of jersey items that I do not see working there, but this dress definetely does. The boots as well. I will go try the on today and perhaps buy them. I am still not sure of what size to get. I have the short ones in my usual size (36) but they are really large in the sizing and fits more like a size 37. I like them loose though. I am a bit unsure if I would like that for the tall ones. I think the smaller size might be better since I think a long boot should have a more tight fit. Not sure if that makes any sense.

You have been really good this season. Seems like you got a lot of good items and did not make a lot of mistakes. How are you liking your bag? Also I would like to see that dress. It is nice to rediscover things like that.
