The 'Authentication' Thread

That's what I figured. Thanks for your responses.
Does anyone know of a Chloe dress as I described with pearls connecting the shoulders. Do you kow what season? It was for sale from the reputable consignment shop in LA Decades, and now I have a chance to buy it. But, I wanted to know a little more about it, such as what season and if it was during Phoebe Philo's reign, or when Stella was there, etc.

I recently bought a black quilted leather "Chanel" bag VERY cheaply in an op shop. It looks to be an eighties style, with a very long chain and leather strap. Just wondering if there are any particular features to look for to determine it's authenticity? I assume it's not real... But stranger things have happened, right?! It's lined in leather but something about the label inside looks a little off... Not that I would know, as I don't own any Chanel! I might post a few pics later. Thanks very much!

ALEXN Im not a pro but I would say those boots are authentic. THe leather looks like a good quality and they dont usually knock off shoes a whole lot.

Thanks. I didn't get them, though. I needed to save money, which I've now spend on other stuff anyway.

There is a specific thread for handbags to tell authenticity. ;)

if you click on the handbags section of this forum.. it should be a pinned topic.. so you should find it somewhere near the top of the list. :flower:

Hm. Something happened to it.. Leave your question here... I'll try to figure this out.

I can't tell if its authentic, abbyroad, externally. However, I can give you tips to tell if you're purchase is authentic from within. :flower:

  • Most designer bags such as Prada have an authenticity card with a corresponding authenticity or control number. Prada also comes with a care booklet.
  • Check the zippers! Most fakers overlook small details such as this one. Authentic bags always have specially stamped zippers so if your bag has a YKK zipper, investigate!
  • LV has a way of cutting the leather in such a way that when they sew it unto the bag, the monograms are very symmetrical to the handle. And since LV always has a date code check for it.
Hope this helps.

Just remember that those authenticity cards are faked all the time. So never assume something's authentic because someone tells you it comes with an authenticity card. :flower:

a general tip that I can offer:

When buying shoes, ask for pics of the bottom soles of the shoes... There is where most designers leave thier mark.
The outside can look real, and they can put a tag on the inside or the correct box, but the bottom sole will never lie...

Another tip:

  • Lining: LV bags are usually made with a suede Alcantara leather or canvas lining, not satin.

it looks real, but im going to need more pictures to verify it.

where is that fake from? are you sure it's not real?

Just a general question, theres heaps of DH jeans on eBay and often they reach ridiculous amounts, so a certain amount of these must be fakes right?
