So I don't know who all has heard of the Chelsea Girl Look made famous by Mary Quant, But I am absolutly loving it. I guess it's not so much a trend here in the US so much as I have heard that it is in The UK. I kinda feel like I shouldn't be telling anyone about this style because it might become a trend and I don't like trends, I prefer uniqueness; but I won't be selfish and keep this style all to myself. :D

But I was wondering who all has tried this style out and if it has worked out for them.

I think this is in the right forum if it isn't I'm sorry.

I'd love to see more pics of this trend... ..seems to be quite interesting. :flower:

Is this in anyway related to the Warhol scene?
Didn't he have a movie called Chelsea Girls?

totally..
Chelsea Girls is a Warhol movie, to me 'the Chelsey Girl' is the typical mid sixties Factory girl style, see Edie, International Velvet, Nico, Ingrid Superstar etc.

the whole look seems gorgeous, cept i'm a bit tired of warhol...what with all the sienna miller/edie sedgwick vogues

I think I've tried this style out but im not sure if it's what you guys are referring to...white eyeliner, full lashes, minis w/ black tights, chandelier earrings, striped skinny scarves, bakersboy caps, opaque tights, lots of black.....this is exactly my style. Would this be described as Chelsea Girl?

Sorry then, dbear1000.....
but this trend is already hitting the US.
I've been seeing lots of this look already. (esp. the black and white striped shirts, so sick of them)

This one from Urban Outfitters is so... :yuk: . Especially with that belt.

This is where I mostly read up on the style, but I have heard of it before.

This is what I mostly mean by Chelsea Girl.
I don't mean mini skirts and striped shirts so much as I do skinny jeans and knit dresses, skinny scarves and baker boy hats, leggings, slouchy boots, and smoky khol eyes.
I just love this style so much and I don't want it to become a trend and see just anyone wearing it because then I would get bored of the style and eventually hate it and I really don't want to hate this style! Haha.

Looks exciting. More pics to post? All part of the mod phase?

i'd say it's halfway between boho and mod and it does seem to be hitting the US...kind of like Nico, Marianne Faithfull, etc?

This look was very big in autumn here in the uk its on its way out now though .. but everyone was wearinf baker boys hates, stripes, thin scarves .. that kinds of thing really :)

I love this look. I hope it only remains cool for the serious fashionistas (like us, hehe)- i don't want it hitting the tacky high street shops and being worn everywhere!! I  the edie look/sienna's mod look, but now that the stripey tops and leggings are everywhere, it's being ruined for me!! Anyone feel the same?

Too late. Its come and gone. It has been saturated everywhere!

Bumping this thread to bring it back to the present time. This way the server switching error will be undone.

Is this a sort of sienna-trying-to-be-edie look....!? "again"!?!!?

^ Ditto!

I was just thinking that this look is a lot of what Sienna was wearing this past fall/winter.

I would probably like the Chelsea look if it weren't for the fact that it's overly-done by Sienna (thus becoming trendy). :flower:
